CHORUS CHORUS

The BFA-St. Albans Fine Arts Department presents the Ithaca College Men's Chorus conducted by Brian Messier in the BFA-St. Albans Theater tonight at 7 p.m.
17 voices strong, "we perform a wide variety of music," chorus president Jeff Hoffman said. "This concert will include traditional choral works, barbershop tunes, and pop music heard on the radio." The program includes Running Away by Hoobastank, Footloose by Kenny Loggins, Here is Gone by the Goo Goo Dolls, the barbershop melody Coney Island Baby, and Aija, a traditional Latvian lullabye sung in Latvian.
Members of the Ithaca College School of Music founded the Men's Chorus in 1996. It now includes "men from all different majors and all different backgrounds," Mr. Hoffman said. "We all know a little bit about music and all love to sing."
The chorus includes tenors Christian Carichner, Jeff Hoffman, Jamie Paisley, Ethan Powell, Don Ferlazzo, Jeremey Horan, Gavin Sidebottom, Brandon Steinorth, and David Stills, and basses Neal Gauger, Anthony Healy, Chris Pearsall, Caleb Whelden, Jeff Gould, Brian Messier, Tyler Ogilvie, Kristaps Sorins, and Ryan Toyama. Conductor Brian Messier of Georgia is a senior and a Music Education (percussion) major. The Ithaca College Men's Chorus is a completely student run group.
The Chorus is on tour around New England. This tour stops in Middlebury College tomorrow and also includes Boston, Albany, and Syracuse. "Brian wanted to perform close to home, so we called Armand Messier at BFA as we were putting together the tour."
Their CD ...the band never showed is available online and a second CD in production for this spring. Click here or E-mail for more info.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students of any age. Children under 6 are free. Tickets are available through BFA music (527-6538), all BFA chorus members, at the All Arts Council ticket centers: Better Planet Books, Toys, and Hobbies and the Kept Writer in St. Albans, Swanton Rexall, and Enosburg Pharmacy, and at the door.
"It's a fun filled evening," Mr. Hoffman said.

YOUR NAME HERE

The All Arts Council needs you.
We leverage a combination of grants, volunteer sweat, business advertising, and Town appropriations to present events such as Monday's Grumpy Grownups concert, fine art exhibits, and the popular Summer Sounds series.
Nationally, arts festivals bring about $2 billion in annual spending to local communities, on top of all art purchases and lodging revenue; locally, cultural-heritage programs are the single largest draw of tourist dollars in Franklin County.
The All Arts Council aims cultural programming directly at tourists and at residents. We buy space and time, maintain a popular web site, air announcements and some concerts on local television, and poster the community. In the course of one year, we provide over two million advertising, editorial, and direct impressions in Vermont alone. Your "eyeball" is ours right now.
If you would like to share that advertising bonanza and the opportunity to build the cultural events that attract visitors and keep residents in this part of the state, Email the All Arts Council. It could be Your Name right here next week.
