Stop in for live music and more at the Fairfax Music Sessions at the Foothills Bakery in Fairfax most Saturday afternoons at 1 p.m., at ChowBella or at the Overtime Saloon in St Albans 8-10 p.m. most Wednesday evenings, at the Bayside in St Albans Town most Sunday afternoons, and the Cambridge CoffeeHouses at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of every month.

These gatherings bring new opportunities, gossip, "show-and-tell" and occasional workshops. The booked performances and acoustic Open Mike Nights feature music, readings, and more from the best new artists in Vermont.
No Mapley art: The All Arts art exhibit will not be held at the Maple Festival this year. Instead, we have had a wonderful two-month show in Burlington and the new St. Albans Artists' Guild will have its premiere exhibit in 9 days. ART ON THE WALLS
The Spring Fine Art Exhibit by All Arts Council and Art's Alive draws to a close today at Union Station in Burlington. The event has featured the work of many Franklin County artists with a special look at the paintings of Franklin artist Natalie LaRocque-Bouchard; it also includes the works of artists Jane Bower, Mary Harper, Joy Perrino, and Valerie Ugro, and photographers Janet Bonneau, Dick Harper, April Henderson, David Juaire, Gustav Verderber, and Lauren Young.
The Flying Disc on Main Street will host a photo show from Fairfield artists as well as St. Albans Messenger photographer, Stina Plant, during the Festival. Messenger columnist Leon Thompson will sign copies of his books, Good Junk and dork. - another look at my junk, on Saturday from 10-2 p.m.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative of Enosburg Falls opens next Wednesday, May 2, with 45 Franklin County and surrounding area artists including Corliss Blakely, Kitten Ellison, Henry Trask Reilly, and Andrew Wooten.
"We are a phoenix from the ashes of a Main Street that burned two years ago," Sandra fw Beaty said.
The spacious and well lit gallery is located at street level in a new building on Main Street.
"It is quite impressive the talent you will encounter," she said.
Artist in Residence art cooperative is owned and operated by artists and sponsors. It includes paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more. The Village Frame Shoppe is located within the coop as a resident framer. The Blue Crayon, a small private studio, is available there for individual or small group lessons. The gallery will be open Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"The first Thursday of every month we will have a fruit, wine and cheese reception for 4 featured artists," Ms. Beaty added. Next Thursday, May 3, is the first event.
Next weekend, May 5-6, the Saint Albans Artists' Guild will hold Franklin County's Art Exhibit of the season (that is the weekend following Maple Festival). The event will be held in the Bliss Auditorium of the Saint Albans Historical Museum. The free event is a chance to see a new collection of fine art and to meet the artists.
The 41st annual Vermont Maple Festival takes over downtown St. Albans tomorrow afternoon. In addition to maple exhibits, food, and family fun, the event puts performers on stage on Main Street, at BFA, and at City Elementary School. MAPLE FESTIVAL--ON STAGE LIVE
The biggest event of the weekend is the 41st annual Maple Festival Parade. Starting from Houghton Street on Sunday at 1 p.m. sharp, the parade stretches out for miles with over 120 bands, unique floats, clowns, horses and tractors, and the ever-popular pooper scooper.
The Friday Main Street stage lineup includes the John Luc German Band, Marko the Magician, Banjo Dan and the Midnight Plowboys, and Fiddleheads.
The Youth Talent Show will fill the BFA Auditorium on Friday evening. This annual favorite brings together some of the most talented children in the County competing for scholarship prizes. General admission is $6 per person or $4 for students. Tickets are available at the information booth on Main Street and at the festival office.
The famed Foothill Fogies will provide music for the Pancake Breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday in the St. Albans City Elementary School. The Foothill Fogies are the "group of people who play informally at the Foothills Bakery," said Mark Sustic, of the group that includes Mr. Sustic, Ed Paquin, Jerry Faulkenberg and several other fiddlers young and old. They will play traditional old country Vermont music in the dining room. Admission to the breakfast is $6 for adults, $3 for children 3-10, and free for the children 2 and under.
Saturday begins with storyteller and musician Bill Shontz, Keeghan Nolan, the Joe Levesque Big Band, Talent show Award winners, the rock band Fractured, and Jazzmosis.
The Fiddler's Variety Show is an annual sellout in BFA Auditorium with hours of Canadian and American singers, dancers, pickers, comedy, and clogging. General admission is $7/person. Tickets are available at the information booth on Main Street and at the festival office.
Sunday offers the St Albans City School Senior Band before the parade, the Electric Youth Dance Company, and a Citizens Concert Band concert to close the day.

The site includes competitions, scholarships, juried exhibitions, internships, calls for entries, publishing opportunities, museum exhibitions and gift shops accepting consignment, illustration, art rental galleries, photo contests, residencies, gallery calls, fellowships, art communities, outdoor and indoor art festivals, funding, and other opportunities for artists, art educators, curators and art students worldwide.
