Stop in for live music and more at the Fairfax Music Sessions at the Foothills Bakery in Fairfax most Saturday afternoons at 1 p.m., at various restaurants around Franklin County throughout the week, at the Bayside in St Albans Town most Sunday afternoons, and the Cambridge CoffeeHouses at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of every month.

Tune in today to the Franklin-Grand Isle United Way Deeds for Dough Radio-thon. The annual event is simulcast on WRSA 1420 AM and Northwest Public Access Channel 15; it ends at 6 p.m. today. CALL FOR ART LOVERS
Auction items from the arts include Ann Levy's Cooking Journal from Little Apple Press, a movie pass to the Welden Theater, a Fred Swan Print from Champlain Collection, and framed photographs from Dave Juaire and yours truly. Over 250 other donated items range from a dinner at the My T Fine, to 100 gallons of fuel oil from Clarence Brown and a week of family camp at Camp Abnaki. Call the Auction Line (524.2476) to bid.
The Deeds for Dough auction covers all the crazy deeds that "need" doing. I'm too furry to be duct taped to a wall but Don Collins and Mike Boulerice have already agreed at $5 per strip of tape. You might think of something artistic like having another high profile community member body painted as, say, Santa Claus. Call the Delivery Line (524.4628) to pledge your dough for a deed.

St. Albans Community Justice Center and Franklin County Court Diversion present a Restorative Justice Film Festival in the BFA-St. Albans auditorium on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. FILM FESTIVAL
The films include the documentaries Burning Bridges and Facing the Demons.
Early on a 2004 morning, arson destroyed historic Mood’s Covered Bridge in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The six young arsonists were graduates of the local high school and college students from "good families." Burning Bridges focuses on a restorative conference with the arsonists, their families, and members of the community.
The 1999 film Facing the Demons tells the story of a 1994 murder that opened a well of unresolved pain, guilt, anger, confusion and frustration and how the family and friends of a murdered boy came together with those convicted of his killing.
"Come learn about RJ in our community," said Cathy Fitzgerald. The festival will help to raise community awareness of restorative justice principles and how the CJC and Court Diversion support the process in Franklin County.
The free event is open to the public. There are refreshments and door prizes. "People can wander in and out whenever they want," Ms. Fitzgerald said.
The St. Albans Community Justice Center is now located at 17 Lake Street behind The Rail City Salon.
Warning! Tempus fugit! TIS THE SEASON?
It may be difficult to grasp but there are now only THIRTY-SOMETHING SHOPPING DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS. With that in mind Highgate steps into the void with the third annual Highgate Holiday Craft Show in the Highgate Elementary School gym on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Messenger columnist Leon Thompson will sign copies of his books, Good Junk and dork. - another look at my junk. There wll be other art and plenty of crafts as well.

BURLINGTON--Fiddleheads will play the Children's Memorial Service at Ira Allen Chapel at UVM on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Vermont Children's Hospital at Fletcher Allen hosts the annual service which brings together parents families, caregivers, and community members to remember their children who have died. The Vermont Arts Council is fund raising with an evening of star-studded entertainment in the Grand Maple Ballroom of the new UVM Davis Center on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Vermont celebrities will pair off with some the state's best dancers in the local rendition of the popular television show. STOMPIN' WITH THE STARS
The dancers include St. Albans own dance instructor and First Step owner Kevin Laddison (dancing the East Coast Swing) as well as Dance Company instructor Karen Amirault, dance instructor Brock Davis, Vermont singer/songwriter Patrick Fitzsimmons, Billi Gosh of the Vermont Women's Fund, Faye's Dance Studio instructor Faye Grearson, Tango Vermont dance instructor Gerd Hirschmann, singer Jenni Johnson, State Representative Mitzi Johnson, artist Warren Kimble, The New Yorker magazine cartoonist Ed Koren, dance instructor Sarah LaMotte, UVM dance instructor David Larson, Melinda Moulton of Main Street Landing, SalsaLina Dance Studio instructor Victoria Moore, dance instructor Taryn Noelle, and Dan Smith of Greater Burlington Industrial Corp. The evening will be judged by Andrea Rogers of the Flynn, Jimmy Swift of First Night, and Will Voigt of the Vermont Frost Heaves. Fran Stoddard of Vermont Public Television will be Mistress of Ceremonies.
Shakedown will perform dance music following the competition with music ranging from jazz standards, and oldies, to modern Top 40 tunes.

Fiddler Jon Glik is now in hospital with liver failure while he awaits a transplant. It is the third time this year he has been hospitalized. Like many musicians, he has no health insurance and is faced with rising medial bills. LISTEN AND HELP
Mr. Glik recorded and performed with Banjo Dan and the Mid-Nite Plowboys, the popular, original bluegrass band we have featured in Summer Sounds. His fiddle playing can be heard on many legendary records including Del McCoury's Don’t Stop The Music as well as with David Grisman, Frank Wakefield, Peter Rowan, the Forbes Family, Dave Evans, Paul Adkins, Walter Hensley, Bob and Danny Paisley, and more.
"We can all help, right now, by listening to music," Mr. Lindner said.
The Lindner Brothers' (Banjo Dan and Willy) 1980 vinyl LP, With Friends Like These, featured Plowboy bassist Sam Blagden, dobro player Dan Mahoney, vocalists Mike Ziegler, Nancy Mosher and Jaye Lindner, and Mr. Glik. The album offers a dozen driving, exciting, soulful numbers including the instrumental Oat Mountain, Dan’s epic seafaring tale Widow’s Walk, Willy's Blue Sea Blues, and Mr. Glik's own rousing fiddle tune Rumney's Rum.
"You won't hear any better bluegrass fiddling, anywhere," Banjo Dan said.

Northern Forest Canoe Trail Auction 2007 runs through December 5. There are always works of art from the organization that brought the stone canoe public sculpture to Franklin County.
