Perhaps "resolutionary" would be a better title, but I like column heads that grab the reader. Using words like "naked" and "revolution" do that better. REVOLUTIONARY
Business slows down this time of year. We had a foot of snow in Highgate on Monday morning when I wrote this. It's a great excuse, but no one really wanted to go to work anyway. That means this week is the perfect time to think about your Resolutions.
You could resolve to buy more original art.
Or you could resolve to create more original art.
Or you could resolve to submit more original art.
(For "art," substitute choreography or music or any other form or media.)
This week we have a number of art deadlines that are looming closely. Take a break from shoveling and get your stuff ready to send out.

JEFFERSONVILLE--The Village Tavern hosts Open Mic at 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
FAIRFAX--The regular Music Session continues Saturday with acoustic instrumentalists playing traditional songs at the Foothills Bakery, 1-4:30 p.m. Admission is free by donation.
Vermont singer and AAC Treasurer Tim Stetson's debut CD, He'll Never Let Me Fall, is now available for Christmas stocking stuffers. NEW GOSPEL MUSIC CD
The disc includes 12 gospel songs that cover the styles of Southern Gospel, Christian Country, and Country Gospel, as well as the hymns Where Could I Go," "In The Garden and How Great Thou Art. The CD has been about three years in the making. It was produced by Tim's son David Stetson and was recorded and mastered by Armand Messier.
The album sells for $15 direct from Tim Stetson, PO Box 282, Enosburg Falls, VT 05450-0282.
NORTHEAST HERITAGE MUSIC CAMP (December 31)--offers an early bird tuition discount for the June, 2008, camp featuring one week of instruction by world class players of traditional music from Cape Breton, Quebec, Ireland, New England and the American South, at Johnson State College in Johnson. Camp includes music study, concerts, contra dances and nightly jams every evening. Seamus Connolly, Alan Jabbour, Laura Risk, Dwayne Cote, Pete Sutherland, Grey Larsen, Cindy Kallet, David Kaynor, Jeremiah McLane, Sarah Hotchkiss, Peter Langston and Ken Perlman will instruct. STREET PHOTOGRAPHY (January 15)--Calls for photos of life in public spaces and the many elements that affect our daily lives. The images can be in urban or rural settings, and from any country or culture in the world. Click here for info and online submissions.
DELICATE SITUATIONS ART (January 15)--The year-long group exhibition brings together work that is placed in any space anywhere. The one common factor is that the works must be left in one place (for as long as they last). Submit more than one work in the form of documentation (for example photograph, text, link to movie or sound file) over the period of the year if the work evolves with exposure to the environment in which it is placed. New England Foundation for the Arts has published its latest creative economy study, The Creative Economy: A New Definition, online. The report builds on NEFA's 30-years of creative economy research. That analysis shows that New England's cultural organizations employ about 4% of the workforce, some 274,719 people. NEFA's NEW CREATIVE ECONOMY STUDY
Authors Douglas DeNatale and Gregory H. Wassall also propose a standard research methodology and core definition of New England's creative economy that could be employed throughout the U.S.

"Traveling around this great big, exciting, lush, bustling, wondrous, lavish, friendly, beautiful, intriguing, humorous, spiritual, generous, adaptive, dangerous, creative, sincere, simple, and ever changing world of ours had been on my life list of things to do since I can remember," photographer Greg Davis of Texas wrote. The host provides proof-delayed shipping, backprinting, digital downloads, custom watermarks, prints up to 30" x 40", gifts, and HD video.
