ENOSBURG FALLS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on Barbara Colgrove, pottery; Cynthia Peterson, watercolors and oils; Wayne Tarr, fine art photographs; Frank Tiralla, detailed North American wildlife. ART ON THE WALLS
The A.I.R. gallery hosts a free meet-the-artists reception with refreshments tonight from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The exhibit continues through the end of September.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 45 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The Village Frame Shoppe is located within the coop as a resident framer. The Blue Crayon, a small private studio, is available there for individual or small group lessons. The gallery, located at 349 Main Street, is open Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
ST ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts photographic portraitist Ed Balentine this month. The exhibit includes two three-member family portraits, two mother-daughter portraits, and several individual images. He works out of his home and goes on location for weddings, seniors, and events and will be working with the Charlotte School this fall.
The show continues through the end of September.
Always popular in Franklin County, the Starline Rhythm Boys are busy in other nearby towns all weekend. ON STAGE LIVE
SOUTH HERO--The Boys play Music in the Vineyard at Snow Farm Winery today at 6:15 p.m.
BURLINGTON--The Boys make their last summer '09 appearance at Breakwaters tomorrow at 6 p.m.
NORTHFIELD--The Boys play the Northfield Labor Day Concert on the Common on Monday at 1 p.m.

ESSEX JUNCTION--The Champlain Valley Fair, which continues tomorrow with Kelly Clarkson and ends with Kid Rock, offers the Vermont Talent Showcase at 3 and 6 p.m. on the (free) Burlington Free Press Stage.
The 45-piece Marine Corps marching band from Albany, GA, will also be featured on the Free Press Stage. The outstanding musicians of the USMC will play at 1 pm today through Monday.

RANDOLPH--The 17th annual New World Festival on Monday features Fiddleheads plus Peter and Mary Alice Amidon, Les Batinses, Cantrip, Dent-de-Lion, Gadelle, Hot Flannel, Long Time Courting, Jeremiah McLane and David Surette, the No Strings Marionette Company, Reveillons!, Lissa Schneckenburger, and more around the Chandler Music Hall. With five performance stages, all-weather tents, and loads of food and crafts and children’s activities, the Festival is a broad roots, folk, and family event.

VERGENNES--The Vergennes Opera House presents Canadian storyteller Judith Poirier in the Champlain Valley Storytellers Series on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Storytellers Series are performances filled with songs and spoken word celebrating the customs and traditions of the Champlain Valley and beyond. BURLINGTON--Celebrate the Art of Lake Champlain is an exhibit and sale of original photographs by Benedicte and Bill Dodge that explore the beauty and history our scenic lake at Silver Maple Editions. The exhibition features the work of many of Vermont’s most exciting and accomplished artists.

The Winooski-based Young Writers Project vision is "to build a generation of better writers." The Project has digital writing classrooms for schools and after-school programs, trained college student/mentors who critique the writers, in-class workshops about writing and its importance, and publication of selected student work in newspapers and on radio and stage. YWP offers an interactive site students post writing for feedback.
The site offers registered young writers tips on writing, online workshops, and discussions. The site offers announcements, blog posts, poems, essays, photos, and links to the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival writings for casual visitors.
