HIGHGATE--MVU presents Into the Woods, the MVU musical, in the Trahan Theater starting tonight. ON STAGE LIVE
The play has music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. Inspired by The Uses of Enchantment, the musical weaves the plots and characters of several familiar Grimm fairy tales including Little Red Ridinghood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Cinderella. The characters wind through an original story of a Baker and his wife and their hopes of family. The cast includes Krystal Vaughn as the scheming witch, Justin Gates and Ashley Bourdeau as the baker and his wife, Molly Hartman as Cinderella, Michelle Rainville, Rebekah Calderwood, and Jorie Spaulding as her stepfamily, Kathryn Gates as Little Red Riding Hood, and Katie O’Shea as her grandmother, Emily Evans as Rapunzel plus Josh Hull and Jeffrey Renaud as the two dashing Princes, Sean Culligan as young Jack and Brianna St. Amour as his mother, the mysterious Leif Mitchinson, the feuding narrators Michaela Stilianessis and Vincent Iannaco, as well as Josh Oddy, Jessica Duprey, Annika White, Alex Paxman and Lauren Kneebone. Harold Mitchell directs.
Into the Woods runs tonight through Saturday evening at 7 p.m. plus a matinee on Saturday at 2. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for students, seniors, and children. Kids under 5 are free. Call 802.868.2263 for reserved seats. Click here for the promotional video.
SHELBURNE--Young Tradition Vermont presents Cynthia MacLeod in a house concert at the home of Joplin and Alison James tonight at 7 p.m.
A young fiddler from Prince Edward Island, Ms. MacLeod has that combination of talent and energy that created her international reputation as one of the best of the young generation of traditional fiddlers. She has received more than a dozen PEI music awards and has produced three critically-acclaimed and top-selling CDs. She has performed across Canada, throughout New England, and Japan.

BURLINGTON--Bella Voce Women’s Chorus will host the Cantabile Men's and Women's Choruses in concert at the College Street Congregational Church tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
The award-winning chorus from Kingston, Ontario, has received national and international acclaim for innovative and creative programming. Their repertoire ranges from traditional Renaissance motets to Quebecois folk songs and new commissions by American and Canadian composers. Dr. Mark Sirett directs the choruses.
Bella Voce will perform in the concert and will close with all 100 singers joining together in song. Dr. Dawn Willis directs Bella Voce whose member include Heidi Anderson of St. Albans.

TINMOUTH--The Old Firehouse presents Yankee Chank tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m. With Mark Sustic on bass and percussion, the Cajun/Zydeco dance band uses traditional instruments to perform the traditional dance music of southwest Louisiana. The concert will include the two-steps and waltzes played in the dance halls and honky-tonks of Louisiana.

FLETCHER--The Fletcher Historical Society hosts dinner with music by Fiddleheads at the Fletcher Union Meeting House on Saturday at 5 p.m.

WATERVILLE--Cambridge Arts Council hosts a Family Contra Dance with caller Mark Sustic plus Frank Heyburn, members of Fiddleheads, and other young musicians all in the Waterville Town Hall on Saturday at 7 p.m.

RE:FUSE/RE:USE TABLETOP ASSEMBLAGE (April 28)--Climate Gallery's definition of assemblage is broad. Each artist may submit 2 pieces for exhibition. USARTISTS INTERNATIONAL GRANT (May 3)--American dance, music, and theater ensembles and solo artists who will perform at significant international festivals anywhere in the world outside the United States and its territories can apply for assistance for projects taking place between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011. FOUND OBJECT FINE ART (May 3)--Maryland Federation of Art in Annapolis invites all U.S. artists to enter Eye of the Beholder: Fine Art of the Found Object National Juried Exhibition. 2010 ANNUAL JURIED ART COMPETITION (May 19)--South Arkansas Arts Center wants 2D and 3D fine art entries. The exhibit is open to all artists 18 or older in the United States and artwork of any fine art media that was completed within two years of the entry deadline. Cash prizes. PORTLAND, ME, AND LAKE PLACID--Traveling? The Northern Forest Paddlers Film Fest includes Paddle to Seattle," "Earl's Canoe," "Terra Antarctica," "Dream Result, and Kayaking is not a Crime, a claymation short by a young New York film-maker. The films will air today in Portland and tomorrow in Lake Placid FILM ON THE WALLS
