ST. ALBANS--The Overtime Saloon presents Substation 7 with Difficult Mike on Saturday evening. Clem Yonkers and Mike Willey, two of Franklin County's original rockers, will perform alternating solo sets of new and original work. ON STAGE LIVE
St. Albans native Clement Yonkers is well known from his days as lead guitarist with area bands to play his own original instrumental compositions using solo guitar and live looping techniques. Known as Substation 7, Clement is a composer, guitarist, and self-professed music technology nerd. The music incorporates a range of styles (avant-garde, alternative, ambient, rock, heavy, melodic to name just a few) using state of the art musical technology to execute an eccentric musical vision.
Michael Willey, also a St. Albans native, has laid the bass line for area bands. His new solo project Difficult Mike incorporates contemporary classical, finger style, and folk guitar with modern rock. His performances will include acoustic versions of several decades of popular songs.

ST. ALBANS--The BFA-St. Albans Music Department presents Vivaldi’s Gloria in St. Mary’s sanctuary on Sunday at 3 and 7 p.m. The concert has moved "off site" because the current BFA stage cannot fit the 100 choristers, let alone the soloists and orchestra.
Performing Gloria in the large church setting gives the work a magnificent feeling. St. Mary's offers a beautiful setting and wonderful acoustics.
Vivaldi wrote the familiar and popular sacred music in the early 1700s. The Gloria is often performed at Christmas and other sacred events. It has been recorded on about 100 CDs and used in several films. The second movement created the climactic final scenes of Runaway Train.
The BFA Chorus reaches for the stars with major programs almost every Spring. They performed Handel's Messiah in 2002 and 2006, also at St. Mary's. The chorus programs helps students develop singing and individual sight-reading, aural skills, and vocal technique. Their advanced repertoire includes not only major pieces like the Gloria but also Renaissance to Contemporary music including sacred, folk, jazz, and popular styles.
The soloists and musicians bring broad experience to the concert.
St. Albans own Claire Chevalier Hungerford, soprano, and Evelyn Kwanza, mezzo-soprano, will solo. A professional orchestra will compliment the 100-plus members of the Academy Chorus. BFA Choral Director Armand Messier conducts.
The orchestra includes 15 strings -- violins, violas, cellos, and a bass -- as well as trumpet, oboe, and piano. Some members also play in the VSO or the Burlington Chamber Orchestra. Gianna Messier is concert mistress.
Admission is $8 for adults or $5 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at Better Planet in St. Albans, Swanton Rexall in Swanton, and at BFA (802.527.6556). Tickets will be available at the door.

Diane Gabriel of Burlington uses drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture to tells stories visually. Her work explores personal, historical and spiritual ideas including mysterious veracity, psychology, and the experience of memory.
