Summer Music at Grace presents the Heliand Consort on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. HEALING MUSIC
Their whirlwind, one-week long Summer Light Music Tour takes place all next week. "We'll celebrate the long Vermont summer days and coming solstice with a delightful program of chamber music for woodwind quartet and voices." The program includes music of Elliott Carter, Jean Francaix, Gordon Jacob, and the world premiere of Don Jamison's What Pan Was Doing.
The Heliand Trio history began when Elisabeth LeBlanc of St. Albans and Rachael Elliott of Lyndon sat side-by-side in the Vermont Youth Orchestra. They connected with founding pianist Annemieke Spoelstra to form the Trio to perform live chamber music throughout the state. The name Heliand is Old Saxon for "healing power." The Consort is Berta Frank, flute, Katie Oprea, oboe, Ms. Leblanc, clarinet, and Ms. Elliot, bassoon. Look for a few special guests along the way.
The Heliand members invite audiences to participate in a raffle to benefit the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association's School Tour Program. The popular VYOA School Tours bring young musicians into classrooms throughout the state to educate, demonstrate their instruments and perform classical music for their peers. Ms. Frank and LeBlanc are VYOA staff members and Ms. Elliott is the VYO Endangered Instruments instructor.
The tour begins tomorrow morning as they join Walter Parker Live on VPR Classical at 11 a.m. They will perform at the Hartswick Studio on Monday, and in Jericho Wednesday

"Because we're crazy, we've got a second concert scheduled next week!" Beth Crane said. Bread & Bones will join the Summer Music at Grace series with a concert on Friday, June 17.
JOHNSON--The Ballet School of Vermont presents Sleeping Beauty at the Dibden Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. ON STAGE LIVE
The full-length ballet theater production features one-hundred nineteen students from The Ballet School with professional dancer Phillip Skaggs dancing the role of Prince Florimund. Mr. Skaggs was recently featured in Dance Magazine.

CLIFTON PARK, NY--Northern Lights presents Nashville recording artist, singer-songwriter Jamie Lee Thurston with special guest Keeghan Nolan in a Concert for Caring on Saturday at 8 p.m.
A Vermont native, Jamie Lee has opened for the Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans, Charlie Daniels, Mark Chesnut and Colin Raye and has made Nashville his home. He has a songwriting contract with EMI Music Publishing. His own current CD is I Just Wanna Do My Thing.
Acoustic Country singer-songwriter Keeghan Nolan is touring festivals, county fairs, and concerts between Vermont, Nashville, and Florida. She just finished starring with 8084 and has also opened for David Allan Coe, Jimmy Wayne, Dusty Drake, and Jamie Lee. The Fairfield native now makes her home in Williston and in Florida.
The concert will raise money for The Giving Circle of Saratoga Springs to continue their local, national and international projects. There will be a Chinese auction, a 50/50 drawing, concert t-shirts, and can cozies.
This is a family event. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent.
Admission is by $15 donation. All shows at Northern Lights are general admission (standing room). There are seats throughout the venue on a first come first serve basis. BURLINGTON--The Discover Jazz Festival continues a week of America's music through June 13.
The Skinny Pancake hosts Yankee Chank this evening at 8 p.m. Leunig's Bistro hosts the Will Patton Ensemble on Friday and Jenni Johnson & The Jazz Junketeers on Saturday, both at 8 p.m.

BURLINGTON--The UVM Old Time Music Club hosts a Shape Note Sing in Ira Allen Chapel at UVM every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Mason Gohl holds pitching/leading/sight-reading lessons before the Sing at 6 p.m. Check for occasional changes in time, date and location. Email for more info.

Vermont's own 8084 finished a mini-reunion tour in South Burlington, St. Johnsbury, White River Junction, Bennington and Berlin -- the venues that established 8084 as one of the region's most popular bands. Original members Randy Smith, Andre Maquera, Frank Barnes, and Gary Spaulding came together to decide once and for all who had the better hair (Frank Barnes won, do rag down).
Randy Smith wrote, "I'd like to personally that Keeghan Nolan for joining us on stage for three tour dates. She is as nice a human as she is talented. Thank you for making my song come to life."

The Northeast Heritage Music Camp at Johnson State College begins Sunday and continues through Saturday, June 18. The camp offers one week of instruction by world class players of traditional music from Cape Breton, Quebec, Ireland, New England and the American South including Timothy Cummings, Eric Favreau, Kimberly Fraser, Sarah Hotchkiss, Alan Jabbour, David Kaynor, David Surette, Pete Sutherland, Peter Langston, Ken Perlman, Tony DeMarco, Loretto Reid and Peter Barnes.
