The Green Actors Guild presents Meg Cossaboom's Halloween Benefit Concert in the Franklin Town Hall on Saturday at 7 p.m. The variety show will have acts, routines, songs, and numbers all related to the season, to Halloween, or to creepiness in general. SPOOKY MUSIC
Listen for witchy arias performed by Arlene Jarvis, creepy show tunes sung by Pat Willey, Margie Cain, and Jerry Starks, a Disney villain's theme song crooned by Rosie Newton, and music from The Nightmare Before Christmas, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Narnia The Musical! Franklin's own Bryant Reynolds will portray Macbeth and read Poe's classic: The Tell-Tale Heart. The Grim Reaper will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
There will be an intermission with refreshments provided by the Haston Library staff.
Admission is $6 for adults $4 for seniors and kids under 14. Proceeds benefit the Optimist Newspaper and the Haston Library.
NORTH HERO--Watch Corliss Blakely paint during dinner. The North Hero House hosts a Gourmet Dinner with Corliss tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. The three-course dinner features Ms. Blakely painting on her iPad, displayed on the big screen. The cost is $34 per person plus tax and tip. ART ON THE WALLS
Ms. Blakey will also teach a three-hour iPad painting class at the restaurant on Saturday at 9 a.m. The cost is $25 per person.

ENOSBURG--The Opera House at Enosburg Falls run of It's A Scream concludes with performances on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
The "Horror-bly Funny Comedy" has a plot right out of our favorite 1930s and 40s slapstick movies, all set in the 1950s. The old Hollywood studio system is falling apart under the threat of the new TV.
When young studio head Spencer Pierce (Matthew Stebbins) pays a call at a gothic mansion to lower the boom on his top actor, Alexander Moreau (Pat Evans)'s, career. The studio specializes in horror films and Moreau is an actor from the Vincent Price/Boris Karloff school. The Opera House production is directed by Jim Bray and stars Jodi Bray as Maria Yocknestor; Robert Willey as the brick-headed chauffeur Maxie; and Sarah Mitiguy as Elizabeth "Lizzie" Borden.
Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. Advance tickets are available at the Opera House box office, Precious Things Jewelers, Enosburg Pharmacy, and Merchants Bank in Enosburg, plus Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and Better Planet Books in St. Albans. MIDDLEBURY--The Vermont Folklife Center presents Red Heart the Ticker tomorrow evening at 7 p.m.
Red Heart the Ticker is the musical collaboration of Robin MacArthur and Tyler Gibbons, a husband and wife duo from Marlboro, Vermont. The intimate evening will feature traditional songs from their new album, Your Name in Secret I Would Write.
Admission is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Seating is very limited. Call 802.388.4964 to reserve tickets and for other info. Bring a Jack-o-Lantern and be entered into a raffle to win an autographed copy of the CD and poster, plus VFC and YTV goodies. The proceeds will benefit the Vermont Folklife Center and Young Traditions Vermont.

WRITER'S DIGEST SHORT SHORT STORY COMPETITION (November 15)--Short doesn't have to mean small for writers when pint-sized prose can win big. The winners will receive cash and prizes (the grand prize is $3,000 and a trip the Writer's Digest Conference); the winning stories will appear in the 12th Annual Writer's Digest Short Short Story Competition Collection. Stories are limited to 1,500 words or fewer and should be "bold, brilliant, but brief." Click here for more info.
VIEW POINTS 2012 (November 18)--The Studio Montclair wants all mediums, including videos and installations for the annual open juried exhibition at the Ben Shahn Galleries at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. FAIRFAX--Fairfax Community Library hosts A Sense of Place: Vermont's Farm Legacy on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Gregory Sharrow, Director of Education/Folklorist at the Vermont Folklife Center explores the cultural heritage, folklife, and the informal traditions of family and community of farm culture in the past and its relationship to the world of Vermont today.

HIGHGATE--The Highgate Public Library presents veteran Vermont game warden Eric Nuse of Johnson in a discussion and book signing for Vermont Wild, Volume 1 on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Volume One with more than a dozen gamey stories (including the eight baby raccoons loose in his car and the pieces of a dead moose floating all around his canoe at Little Elmore Pond.) was a runaway best seller last year.

Va et Vient of Lincoln plays the music of Quebec, France, and Louisiana with vocal harmonies, guitars, accordions, flute, and minor percussion. Their objective is to keep Franco-American musical traditions alive and integrated with this region's culture.
