The Opera House at Enosburg Falls presents a Community Christmas Concert at the Opera House on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Community Chorus and the Enosburg Town Band family event celebrates traditional music in Franklin County's historic (and heated) theater. The concert will feature traditional hymns and seasonal songs. CHRISTMAS MUSIC

ST ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts Nancy Jacobus this month. She is exhibiting her whimsical images and beautiful bold flowers in vibrant colors on silk. ART ON THE WALLS

BURLINGTON--Young Tradition Vermont and the Vermont Folklife Center present Nowell Sing We Clear: A Pageant of Midwinter Carols at the Unitarian Church in Burlington on Sunday at 4 p.m. ON STAGE LIVE
The raucous and often irreverent show brings a sense of Christmas merrymaking from earlier times with John Roberts, Tony Barrand, Fred Breunig and Andy Davis. The program offers unusual songs, carols, stories, and customs which make up the twelve magical days following the return of the light at the winter solstice, all drawn from English-language folk traditions.

One dollar from each ticket will be donated to the Tom Sustic Scholarship Fund in recognition of International Childhood Cancer Day. The event will include a raffle for a $500 goodies basket. Other proceeds will support the VFC Irene Storytelling Project (click here for more info about the project).
BURLINGTON--The UVM Old Time Music Club hosts a Shape Note Sing in Ira Allen Chapel at UVM every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Mason Gohl holds pitching/leading/sight-reading lessons before the Sing at 6 p.m. Check for occasional changes in time, date and location. Email for more info.

ST. ALBANS (MARK YOUR CALENDARS)--The Northern Vermont Ballet and 802 Professional String Quartet perform Winter Illuminations next weekend, December 17-18, at the BFA Performing Arts Center. The evening will include original choreography danced en pointe by Northern Vermont Ballet's Student Company, performed to Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, Corelli, and Bach.

ST. ALBANS--Stop by the St. Albans Library any time this week or next for a wish list for a needy child in Franklin County. This annual event helps fulfill the holiday wishes for dozens of kids in our area. Choose a card or "stocking" from the first floor fireplace, buy and wrap the presents on the list, and return it all to the library by December 15. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
The St. Albans Library Writers' Medley time of fun and sharing for those interested in writing continues this afternoon at 2 p.m. Call Wanda at the Library (802.524.1507) for more info. FRANKLIN COUNTY--Getting dark early. Time to stock up on winter reading.
The Green Mountain Library Consortium's Amazon.com and OverDrive Kindle Library Lending Program allows patrons to borrow eBooks from library, school, and college partners.
In this area, the Green Mountain Library Consortium includes the Alburgh Community Education Center, Arvin A Brown Library, Enosburg Falls Middle/High School, Fairfax Community Library, Fletcher Memorial Library, Fletcher Elementary School Library, Georgia Public Library, Grand Isle Public Library, Haston Library, Highgate Public Library, Montgomery Town Library, St. Albans Free Library, and Westford Elementary School and Public Libraries.
"You can check out two titles each week through the Highgate Library," librarian Liza Comiskey said.
The new program allows most existing OverDrive eBooks to be read on all Kindle devices or on free Kindle apps on Android, iPhone, iPad, iPod, and other mobile devices. You can read borrowed Kindle books on any generation Kindle device and on all free Kindle apps, as well as in a web browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer with the Kindle Cloud Reader.
To download eBooks, you need only a valid library card, Internet access, and a computer, smartphone, or ebook reader.
Listen Up Vermont at click here to check out eBooks (the process is same for all OverDrive materials). Browse, search, and select, any available eBook title. The final step is a clickable "Get for Kindle" link. You will then be directed to Amazon.com to complete your public library loan. You may be required to login to your Amazon.com account -- or create a new account -- if you’re not already logged in.
It is remarkably easy. I called Ms. Comiskey for my card number; she walked me through logging in in just a few minutes.
DJ Patullo's Village Frame Shoppe is a museum, art gallery and frame shop in Saint Albans with a strong social networking presence on Facebook. DJ uses the "wall" for updates about new artwork, sales, and events. The info page includes the physical address, phone traditional website, and hours.
