ST. ALBANS--The Village Frame Shoppe & Gallery hosts the annual NVAA Fine Art Exhibition with fine art by members of the Northern Vermont Artists Association. The show continues through the end of the month; there will be a closing reception on March 31. ART ON THE WALLS
About half the artists on exhibit are from Franklin County and all live in northwestern Vermont: Letty Annis, Jan Avery, Kathleen Bergeron, Deni Bergne, Janet Bonneau, Millie Boyd, Andy Brown, Dick Brunelle, Robert Brunelle, Jackie Call, Geoff Corey, Dena Couture, Anne Cummings, Julie Davis, Monique Dewyea, Sandra Ershow, Jeanne Evans, Jeane Evans, Clara Geist, Sylvia Kennedy Godin, Mary Godin, Alan Graham, Barbara Hamm, Mary Krause, Jean Lumbra, Margaret Maffin, Lorraine C. Manley, Stewart McHenry, Bev Montiel, Martha Ohliger, Frank Romano, Marcia Rosberg, David Russell, Joan T. Smith, Pam Turner, Karen Day Vath, Norma Wasko, D. Seavey Windsinger, and Linda Wirts.
The Northern Vermont Artists Association was founded in 1931. One of Vermont's oldest continuing art organizations, the NVAA is open to any visual artist in any media who lives in Vermont between Middlebury and the Canadian Border.

WINOOSKI--The first ever Vermont Small Press and Comic Fair will celebrate alternative publishing at the Winooski Welcome Center & Gallery on Saturday from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. The fair will features DIY ‘zine makers, illustrators, comic artists, book artists, graphic novelists, independent publishers of every type.
The 2012 event is presented by Kasini House and co-hosted by Gregory C. Giordano (aka Flameape), a staple of Vermont’s comic scene for over 20 years. He is a regular participant in the 24-hour Comics Challenge and works as an illustrator and fine artist.

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION--The Tupelo Music Hall presents the Nobby Reed Project on Friday at 8 p.m. ON STAGE LIVE

ESSEX JUNCTION--Backstage Pub presents Justice rolling their rock on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. The band is Gary Greeno, lead vocals; Scott Belisle on bass and backup vocals; Todd Dunn, lead and rhythm guitar; Mike Fredette, drums; and Scott Guptill, rhythm guitar and backup vocals.

BURLINGTON--The UVM Folk Music Club with Young Tradition Vermont, the Mad Robin Callers Collective, the UVM Outing Club, the Global Village Residential Learning Community and the Radiator presents the Fifth Annual Folk Music Festival featuring Crowfoot this weekend. Young Tradition Vermont offers a series of traditional music and dance events around the Queen City for the festival.
Tomorrow, a Folk Music Club Weekly Jam Session in the MLK Lounge at Billings Student Center at UVM at 4 p.m. and a Contra Dance featuring Crowfoot and caller Mary Wesley in the First Congregational Church at 7 p.m. On Saturday workshops with members of Crowfoot run from 1 - 4 p.m. and an Open Mic and Crowfoot concert with a jam session following the concert which begins at 7 p.m., all at Billings Student Center. On Sunday a Sacred Harp Sing with the Burlington Shapers takes place at Ira Allen Chapel at 1 p.m.
Partial proceeds benefit the Tom Sustic Fund, which is administered by the Vermont Family Network and supports families with young children with life-threatening illnesses at Fletcher Allen Health Care and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Young Tradition Vermont is dedicated to promoting, supporting and celebrating children, youth, and young adults singing, playing, and dancing traditional styles.

ON THE RADIO--The Radiator, Tazday Twilight Blues with Taz Michaels, hosts Carol Ann Jones live on 105.9FM on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m.
The Vermont Community Foundation has expanded its Community Fund grants program to include an Innovations and Collaborations program. The new grant program will offer grants in the$10-20,000 range and may provide multi-year support to support how nonprofits collaborate across issues, sectors, or regions. Applications will be considered from nonprofit organizations, schools, and municipalities. CREATIVE ECONOMY
For example, a community arts organization could apply with a local downtown association for a project supporting the regional creative economy.
A short online pre-application is available now with a deadline for pre-applications of Monday, April 2. A limited number of proposals will be selected to submit a full online application. A second round of Innovations and Collaborations Grants will open on July 1, 2012.
