CALL FOR ARTISTS

The second annual Sappy Art Show "still has room for a few artists," Karen Day-Vath said.
The April show at the Village Frame Shoppe coincides with the 46th Annual Vermont Maple Festival. Any artist may submit no more than one piece of artwork with a maple theme. All media is welcome. Pre-registration is required for participation. Click here to register and for more info.

WORDS WORDS WORDS

MONTPELIER--Vermont Humanities Council hosts a free You Come Too Poetry Discussion on E.E. Cummings at the VHC this evening at 5:30 p.m. In this series, Executive Director Peter Gilbert examines selected works of influential poets.
Norman Friedman wrote in 1992, "It may at first seem of little import, but for a poet who paid such exacting attention to typography, it must be said once and for all that his name should be written and printed with the usual capital letters in their usual places: 'E. E. Cummings'."
Admission is free but RSVPs are encouraged at 802.262.2626 ext. 307.

The 12th annual Phoenix Film Festival closes its biggest and best event so far today. Named one of the 25 Coolest Film Festivals by MovieMaker Magazine, the festival was started in 2000 by independent filmmakers to showcase independent filmmaking. They screen over 150 films, hold parties and seminars, and accommodate over 22,000 attendees in eight days. The two intriguing facets of the festival are the major sponsors (Cox Cable and starz) and the fact that it is a big event organized by a small group with many volunteers. The site includes info about the festival, tickets, the schedule, the films, travel info and more.

FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF

ArtBits features a quick weekly peek at the bookshelf or night stand of the folks you know in and around Franklin County. That popular feature has a page of its own at the Franklin County Bookshelf here on the AAC site.
