ALBANS--Angie Harris will read from her new book, The Realm: Book One of the Gates of the Realm Series, and hold a book signing at Chow Bella tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. Her book series follows the adventures of a young storm chaser from Amarillo, Texas, who finds himself stranded within another dimension. Born in Burlington, Ms. Harris is now the mother of two, a high school Media Center Facilitator, and a monthly contributor to the Eclectic Authors Showcase Magazine. She lives on Grand Isle.

BURLINGTON--The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Light the Night walk presents Carol Ann Jones at the Memorial Auditorium Annex tomorrow. Check in is at 6 p.m. The walk will start at dusk.
The Light The Night walks fund research and support for people battling cancer. Anyone can take part -- children, adults and seniors -- in the casual fundraiser with no fitness requirements.

GRAND ISLE--The Summer/Fall House Concert series continues Saturday with Carol Ann Jones returning at 7 p.m.
House concerts offer the opportunity to see and hear performers up close and personal in a cozy, lakeside living and listening room. The show is exclusive, has limited-seating, and the chance to talk with the artists before, during and after the show.

JOHNSON--The Vermont Symphony Orchestra Made in Vermont series returns to Johnson State for Homecoming/Reunion Weekend tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. The program includes Michael Haydn's Symphony No. 25 in G Major, the Shostakovich Sinfonia for String Orchestra, Schubert's Symphony No.5, and the world premiere of a commission by Vermont composer David Feurzeig.
Admission is $26 for adults, $22 for seniors $22, and $13 for anyone under 18. Special discounts for Vermont State College faculty/staff and college students. Click here for tickets and more info.

WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA--Saturday is Vermont Day at the Big E, the Eastern States Exposition, which continues through September 30. New England’s Largest Agricultural Fair brings more than one million attendees.
The Vermont Building on the Avenue of States features Vermont products, crafts, and Vermont musicians performing for guests on the front lawn on the weekends. Louli, Yasi and Oli Zeichner of Young Tradition Vermont will perform a two-set concert on Saturday at 1 p.m. Vermont Joy Parade, an eclectic blend of Americana, old-time, country, blues, Dixieland, and Klezmer, takes over the lawn on Sunday at 1 p.m.

JAY--Jay Peak Music & Arts Series presents David Grisman in the Foeger Ballroom at Jay Peak to close out the 2012 summer music series on Sunday at 7 p.m.
Fusing folk, jazz, and acoustic bluegrass into "newgrass," the Dawg is an award winning mandolinist and was a great friend of Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia. The San Francisco Bay Area's band has lines stretching around the block for their shows.

ACTING INTENSIVE--As Franklin County continues to build a local theater community, Meg Cossaboom recommends the workshop, presented by acting instructor Rich Rodriguez, will take place in WAI Studio at Chace Mill next Thursday and Friday, September 27 - 28 at 6 p.m. CALL FOR THESPIANS
Mr. Rodriguez works as stage actor in New York City and in short films shot in various locations. The workshop will concentrate on polishing a monologue, improv techniques, building confidence with an audience, and increasing laughter capacity.

LACDA 2012 (September 24)--The international juried competition for digital art and photography calls for three JPEG files of original work in any style in which digital processes were integral to the creation of the images are acceptable. The winner will receive 10 prints up to 44x60 inches on museum quality paper to be shown in a solo exhibition in the main gallery. Ten second place winners will also be exhibited.
