Stop in for live music and more at the Fairfax Music Sessions at the Foothills Bakery in Fairfax most Saturday afternoons at 1 p.m., at various restaurants around Franklin County throughout the week, at the Bayside in St Albans Town most Sunday afternoons, and the Cambridge CoffeeHouses at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of every month.

A library notice reminds us that Town Meeting is less than six weeks away: the Bent Northrop Library in Fairfield wants people to run for a Library Trustee position at March Town Meeting. Trustee meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at the Library. COMMUNITY

Every Town Clerk in Franklin County has a list of unfilled positions ranging from concert wranglers to cemetery watchers.
The libraries are not the only organizations looking for volunteers this season. The All Arts Council, Art in Bloom Festival, Bay Day, Dairy Festival, the new East Fairfield Arts Center, Fairfax Community Theater Company, Franklin County Field Days, Island Arts, our public Libraries, Maple Festival, Music at Grace, the Northern Vermont Artist Association, Northwest Access TV, SASPA, the St. Albans Historical Museum, and the Vermont Youth Orchestra all run on an informal network of helpers.
Stand up and be counted! Or share a skill or get to know our community. Show your commitment to the Arts! Act out a fantasy or do your civic duty. Have an impact. Have fun! Feel proud. Make new friends. Do something different from your job. Maybe earn credit at school. Hone your skills. Be part of a high status team. Me? I do it because I like it.

ST. ALBANS--Chow!Bella's Comedy for a Cause features Make a Wish Vermont this evening at 7:30 p.m. ON STAGE LIVE
Make a Wish Vermont grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to add hope, strength and joy to their day-to-day struggles. The Chow lineup offers a great evening of laughs, delicious desserts and great friends helping make wishes come true.
Tickets are $15.
Chow has Music to Dine By with relaxed music and the arts. Upcoming events include benefits for the St. Albans Historical Museum and for Operation Comfort. MORRISVILLE--River Arts and Young Tradition Vermont present Geordie Lynd and a fish fry at the River Arts Center on Saturday at 7 p.m.
South Walden's Mr. Lynd plays a traditional Irish fiddle with a style and repertoire that showcase the Clare fiddle masters and the uilleann piping tradition. This concert will include at least one special guest.
The year-round farmers' and artisans' market encourages support for sustainable agriculture and artisan work around the state and offers an outlet to sell products. The venue connects local buyers to local goods with the opportunity to meet the creators. The market itself takes place on Wednesdays, 3 - 6:30 p.m., at the River Arts building.
Guest chef Stub Earl will return for this concert to serve his "Old Fashion Fish Fry."
Admission is by $10 suggested donation at the door.
FACILITIES MANAGER (February 1)--Help wanted. For pay. Really. Artisan's Asylum wants an excited manager to maintain and support a community of artists, engineers, craftsmen, and hobbyists. The facility is a 40,000 square foot, nonprofit public access workshop in Somerville, Massachusetts, with public access to high end manufacturing equipment, private studio space, project storage space, and ongoing craft education classes. SCULPTURE INTERNSHIP (February 23)--Franconia (Minnesota, not New Hampshire) invites dedicated, career-bound, emerging artists to apply for the Intern Artist Fellowship Program. Intern artists receive room, board, and studio space in exchange for daily assistance of Franconia's staff and the Fellowship Artists. Each residence lasts two to three months, with the opportunity to create a new sculpture for exhibition at Franconia. Entry fee. Call 651.257.6668, email or click here for more info.
St JOHN'S COLLEGE SMALL WORKS (February 28)--The juried show, Less is More: Small Works in a Great Space, in Annapolis is accepting entries in all media and is open to artists living in the USA and Puerto Rico. Cash Awards. Entry fee. There will be an online sales gallery. Click here for more info.
ART FAIR (June 29)--The Tall Grass Arts Association Gallery Artists or participants for the 58th Annual Park Forest Art Fair. Applications will be juried on a monthly basis beginning in February so successful applicants can add the Park Forest Art Fair and the annual exhibit to their calendars. High school students in Franklin County interested in careers in Aviation or Aerospace fields are invited to participate in a class at the Franklin County Airport & the Experimental Aircraft Association.
The classes will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays February 2, 9, 16, and 23. Heather Tuck of the MVU After-school Programs is the program organizer. Classes are FREE to MVU students or $35 for all four sessions for others. Email or click here for more info.
Jazz Vocalist Adele Nicols of Waitsfield trained as a classical pianist from the age of seven. She shifted her focus from jazz piano to jazz vocals in New Orleans and then moved to the Green Mountains of Jazz. Her site has press info, her bio, photos, contact info, and a calendar.
