Rotary Club of St. Albans opens the 22nd annual Home & Recreation Exposition with free admission tomorrow. The EXPO annual fund raiser runs through Sunday at the Collins-Perley Sports and Fitness Center. Under the guidance of manager Rene Meilleur, 100% of the profits go to support the Rotary charitable work in this community. All their space is sold out, thanks to the selection of Vermont foods and beverages and more. EXPOSING THE TRUTH

The Champlain Collection continues with a major art event at the Home Show; other artists will have exhibits as well.
2014 marks the eleventh year the Champlain Collection has published a new Fred Swan poster at the Home Expo. "I am going to have two Fred Swan originals including 'Ancient Maple,' a 9"x9" painting that celebrates the maple sugaring," Norm Choiniere said. That painting sells for $2,600. "Fred had a very successful year last year." They will also have framed and unframed posters and a new set of notecards for all seasons.
The Champlain Collection has also started VermontYou'veGottaLoveIt!™ t-shirts with Vermont and maple designs. That will debut at the Expo.

Rotary supports local organizations. The Learn to Ski Program takes youngsters to Smugglers Notch. They offer annual support to programs like Martha's Kitchen and Special Olympics. They particularly like to help the start-up or expansion of local programs or facilities such as the Hard'ack snow making equipment and expansion at the St. Albans Historical Museum, Club Respite, and the Library, as well as new playground equipment in area parks.
Admission is free. The doors will be open from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday. The Collins-Perley Sports and Fitness Center is located just off I-89 at Exit 19. Click here or visit them on Facebook for more info.
BRATTLEBORO--The Brattleboro Museum and Art Center opens three new spring exhibits on Saturday, the Ides of March, at 2 p.m. ART AROUND THE STATE
Flora: A Celebration of Flowers in Contemporary Art fills four of the center's six galleries with work by 13 artists. Out of the Shadows: Paintings by Jim Giddings and Jennifer Stock's site-specific installation Water Studies, Brattleboro, fill the remainder.

MILTON--Ice Storm, December 2013, the Milton Artists' Guild photography exhibit, opens tomorrow evening with a reception at 5 p.m. in the new Community Gallery in the Municipal building and the Milton Public Library.
The show features Walt and Bev Keating's The Ice Eagle plus the ice and glistening contrasts caught by Milton Artists' Guild cameras. Works will be on display during March and April.

RUTLAND--The Chaffee Art Center annual Juried Artist Exhibit features forty-two of Chaffee's artists and a watercolor demonstration in their Downtown storefront tomorrow evening at 5 p.m.
The watercolor demonstration by Vermont artist Peter Huntoon will include refreshments and cheese. He paints unpredictable weather, the change of seasons, fat flurries, village vistas, an the memories of home. Visitors will also see watercolors, oils, pottery, sculpture, mixed media and fiber art. The exhibit is open Tuesday through Friday, noon-6 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Chaffee itself is closed until late March. Click here for more info.

RICHFORD--The A. A. Brown Library serves as a life long learning center with year round classes and workshops. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
The library has been awarded a grant for summer Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math programming. The grant brings materials and people from Vermont Makers for two STEAM programs this summer. Programs for youth will be held at the Richford Summer Day Camp in conjunction with the "Fizz, Boom, Read!" summer reading theme this year.
This grant was offered through a partnership between VT Makers, VT Public Library Foundation, UVM College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, and the VT Community Foundation. Richford is one of 14 libraries in the state to receive this grant.
ST. ALBANS--The St. Albans Free Library reprises its regular Help with Electronic Devices (computer, Kindle, Nook, iPad, etc.) on Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-noon.
Classic Movie Night continues this evening with The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance at 6 p.m. The 1962 black-and-white film stars James Stewart and John Wayne and was directed by John Ford.
The library shows a newsreel, cartoon, and trailer of coming attractions before each weekly movie. All films are shown on the 4' by 6' screen in the upstairs conference room "cinema." Admission is free, along with popcorn and a beverage.
Ruff Reading, the ongoing read to a dog program, invites children ages five to ten to read to Ella, a 7 pound Yorkie. Children who practice reading aloud gain confidence and fluency. Held on the first and third Monday of each month at 3:30 p.m., it comes up on St. Patrick's Day. Call to schedule an appointment.
