ST. ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts painter Jon Young this month with an exhibit of a collection of Vermont landscapes including one four-piece set. He is "blanketing the city." ART ON THE WALLS
He's been a permanent fixture at Twiggs and now has a public studio next door in the basement of Local Fare. He is also a featured artist at the Village Frame Shoppe. "I've had an upswing in sales there," he said.
This week, he will also install work at 14 Star Brewery for its opening on Veteran's Day.
"I'd like to see more public art" in St. Albans, he said.
He works in ink, watercolor, oil, and acrylics, but he prefers acrylics and most of the works in these exhibits reflect that. His paintings, from abstracts to landscapes to signs use bold colors for calm subjects.
Mr. Young studied illustration at Massachusetts College of Art where he "fell in love with the bold graphic lines of the graffiti artists" and painting at Johnson State. He is a product and technical adviser for Holbein Art Materials USA. Born in Swanton and has lived in St. Albans for 12 years.

JERICHO--The Jericho Cafe & Tavern presents Carol Ann Jones with Will Patton on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

SOUTH BURLINGTON--Venue presents a double-barreled show with Justice blazing the stage for L.A. Guns tomorrow at 9 p.m.
With Scott Belisle on bass and backup vocals; Rodney Bushey, lead guitar and vocals; Gary Greeno, lead vocals; Mike Stella, drums; and Scott Guptill, rhythm guitar and backup vocals, Justice hammers a strong mix of 70s, 80s, 90s, and current dance rock. They have built a strong following across the region; the Justice League alone can fill Venue.
Starting on Sunset Strip, L.A. Guns signed with Polygram Records and recording their first gold album in 1987. Now, with more than 25 years of triumphs on stage, the 80s band tears it up with high octane Rock-n-Roll. They're currently out and about with stops in Cheektowaga and Waterloo, NY, South Burlington, then Massachusetts, Texas, and at Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood in January.

ENOSBURG--The Opera House at Enosburg Falls' Final Fall Fling has corralled a whole roundup of Vermont stars on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Look for headliners Carol Ann Jones with Will Patton, Emily Butson, the Missisquoi River Band, Rosie Newton, Sierra Jewett, Sarah and Jared Willey, and more. And there will be Moonlight in Vermont for a slow dance with your sweetie.
The Fling will have a cash bar featuring 14th Star Brewery and Boyden Valley winery.

ST. ALBANS--The Twiggs Comedy For A Cause series continues on the Main Stage Saturday evening at 7 p.m. The evening will raise money to support Tim's House in St. Albans.
Colin Ryan of A Stand Up Life produces the show. Admission is $20. There are just 75 seats available at the restaurant. FAIRFIELD--The Bent-Northrup Skilled Arts Program begins today. FCS Art Teacher Sara Johnson will lead six weeks of after-school programming for grades K-6 every Thursday at the library. Students will be picked up after school and will finishing at 4:30 p.m.
Projects include origami chandeliers, a community puzzle, decorations for Thanksgiving, and more. The library requires sign ups online at

Gin Ferrara of Burlington is a media arts teacher, artist, and writer.
