SWANTON--The monthly Swanton Arts Council business meeting takes place in the Swanton Free Public Library this evening. Kris Daignault will present a quick "how to" on marker renderings starting at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 6. IN THE SAC
The meeting will focus on SAC-sponsored NW Access TV classes, Emerging Artist Award for the National Art Honor Society, upcoming art shows and gallery or local business art displays, and more.
SAC also hosts an Open Art Studio in the King's Daughters' Room of the Swanton Public Library on the first Tuesday of each month from 4-8 p.m. The upcoming art room is this Tuesday, February 2. MVU senior Mikaela Magnant is interning at the Swanton Arts Council for the 2015-16 school year. Ms. Magnant built an art board for the Vermont Creative Summit, maintains the MVU art bulletin board, and creates SAC posters. She will also increase the council's online presence with Facebook and website updates. She is also Vice-President of the MVU branch of the NAHS.
Thursday-Saturday ON STAGE LIVE
ST. ALBANS--Twiggs offers Music to Dine By with relaxed music and the arts. This week, they will feature Isaac French on Thursday, Bobby Cee on Friday, and Shane Murley on Saturday. All three shows will start at 7 p.m.
They have three stages with live piano, violin, or light guitar any day of the week in the dining room, the Window, or the main stage. The Cabaret offers live performances by musicians, visual artists, poets, and more. Piano Night is every Monday night at 6 pm. The regular Open Mic Night repeats next Wednesday and on the first Wednesday of every month. Vern Colburn is Live on the Piano some Nights, Dayve Huckett on the guitar, and they have regular additional performances by Abby Road, Mint Julep, Sean Ashby, and Sean Casey.

ESSEX JUNCTION--Justice is Parking After Dark At Park Place Tavern on Friday at 9:30 p.m. It's the band's annual stop at one of Essex Junction's oldest watering holes.

STOWE--The Winter Star Series presents George Woodard and his one man show in Stowe Town Hall on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
The Vermont dairy farmer/entertainer, filmmaker, and showman from the Ground Hog Opry brings music, comedy, and stories of barns and film sets for the whole family, relatives included. Series host Rusty DeWees will team with Mr. Woodard for a couple songs.

BURLINGTON--The Flynn presents the VYO Winter Concert on Sunday at 3 p.m.
This year's winter concert will include some of the most popular works found in the symphony orchestra repertoire. Leonard Bernstein's Overture to West Side Story will open the concert but the season theme of great Russian masterpieces continues with the 1919 Suite from Igor Stravinsky's Firebird ballet. This Concert Suite for Orchestra No. 2 includes the Firebird and its dance--The Firebird's variation, the Princesses' Khorovod , the Infernal dance of King Kashchei, the Lullaby, and the Finale.
A massed choir of the VYO Chorus and area high school choruses will join the orchestra to perform Antonin Dvorak's Te Deum, Op. 103. Soloists Sarah Cullins, soprano, and Erik Kroncke, bass, will join the choir for this performance.
The VYO seats a number of Franklin County musicians including concertmaster Julia Deziel; Nate Gunter, trombone; and Andrew Fyles percussion and VYO Chorus, all from BFA-St. Albans; Mary Fitzgerald, oboe; and guest chorus members Julia Ormerod, Quentin Stoneburner, and Moses Delane from BFA Fairfax; Malachi Witt, tuba and VYO Chorus, home school Fairfax; and Judah Ward, trumpet from MVU.

MORRISVILLE--Moog's Place has "live music every night we're open, starting between eight and nine pm" with open mic night scheduled most Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.

GEORGIA--The Georgia Public Library Crochet Group meets weekly on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting is this Tuesday.
ST. ALBANS--The St. Albans Public Library R&R Bookclub (Review and Recommendation) meets today at 6:30 p.m. Read whatever book you want and meet ready to share passions and preferences, and review and recommend titles for others to read or avoid.
The Downton Countdown begins Saturday at 1 p.m. with Episode One of the final season of Downton Abbey. Period dress is encouraged. The afternoon includes an English-style tea and a chance to share your thoughts on the series and ideas for surviving after its end. The Library will raffle the entire six seasons on DVD.
SWANTON--The Swanton Free Public Library has three Friday programs: Stories in Nature with Mr. K at noon, the Library Cafe at 2 p.m., and Reader's Theater at 3 p.m.
