The NVAA "encourages the study, improves the practice, elevates the standards, and advances the cause of creative art," Harold Sykes Knight wrote in 1931. Membership is non-juried and mostly includes artists working in most mediums in northern Vermont.

MAYBE NOT SO CREATIVE ECONOMY

After press time last week, the Trump Administration released its budget proposal. The proposal to fund the federal government for the coming fiscal year (FY2018) would eliminate the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Americorps, and other federal agencies.
President Trump has encouraged Congress to make funding decisions independent of the executive branch. Speaking about arts funding last year, he said, "The Congress, as representatives of the people, make the determination as to what the spending priorities ought to be." That said, a viral video already shows Elmo's firing thanks to the proposed budget cuts.
