Sad news. My little home city in the Florida Keys sustained a lot of damage in Hurricane Irma and I need to head south. My plan is to get started reconstructing my own home and to help my neighbors who are already there. CH-CH-CHANGES
A lot of work has already gotten started. Water and sewer are operational. Electric power is on much of the time. Cell service sort of works. The Internet is still mostly down.
That all means I'll be "off the grid" a lot so regular readers will see some new faces pushing the keys and painting the pictures around here. I think you're going to like the changes.
Meanwhile, the elves are working feverishly to bring everything up-to-date and help you find the right stuff. Keep sending info by email but be sure to give lots of lead time (a month would be good). Have a hot story or a cool event? Email to spread the word.
Donna Blatchly, a juried member of the Artist In Residence gallery and of the Milton Artist's Guild, was featured on "Made in Vermont" on WCAX. The special six o'clock news segment aired on Monday, September 11. FEATURED ARTIST

ART ON THE WALLS
MORRISVILLE--The 6th annual Rocktoberfest takes over River Arts on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Rocktoberfest gets BIG & Messy in the Art Space. Morrisville Rocks with a community rock painting activity. There is felting and weaving. And a special Lamoille Valley Dance Academy performance at 2 p.m.
Admission is free.
AROUND CAMBRIDGE--The Cambridge Art Trail is a chance to see where your neighbors create art on Saturday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. It's "not exactly an Art Hop, because it is in the country."
The featured artists include Ali Beddoe, Elizabeth Cleary, Nancy J. Hayden, Silvio Mazzarese and Teresa Bobel, Anne Standish, Eric Tobin, Karen and Jack Winslow, and more, plus galleries and shops with art and artists' wares and wears. In addition to local artists' studios, the Bryan Memorial Gallery, Visions of Vermont, and the Silo Project site are also open.

QUECHEE--The third annual Vermont Institute of Natural Science en Plein Air Painting Festival begins at the VINS Nature Center on Saturday and continues through Friday.
Artists and art lovers celebrate the beauty and diversity of the Ottauquechee River and the Connecticut River watershed, its surrounding forests and waterways, vibrant communities, and its diverse bird life with a festival of painting outdoors in natural light. The resulting Art Exhibit and Sale will take place October 7 - 14 at the VINS.

ST. ALBANS--St. Albans Community Arts needs local and regional artists in all disciplines for the upcoming art walk on October 7. IN THE SAC

Friday ON STAGE LIVE
ST. ALBANS--CopOuts don't but they do play at 14th Star Brewing Co. on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Celtic Folk Punk band has a special brew of traditional Irish tunes and originals with high energy shows and a heavy blend of rock guitars, crashing drums, thunderous bass lines, and bagpipes.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents the North Country Trio of Gentleman Bruce and Friends on Friday and Burlington singer/songwriter Robin Gottfried Band on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--Michael McCarthy hosts Open Mic at the Grind Cafe on Saturday starting at 3 p.m.
There will be a sign up sheet at the cafe to sign up ahead of time. The Grind will serve coffee drinks all night, along with beer, wine, and interesting food choices.
ST. ALBANS--Back Inn Time Bed & Breakfast presents a Music & More Dinner Event with solo artist Cooie DeFrancesco on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Drinks and appetizers are easy but seating is limited, so reservations are required for dinner. The last time Cooie appeared, it became an audience participation event like none other. Call 802.527.5116 or email for reservations or info.
ALBURGH--The American Legion Post 60 Justifies some outdoor rock n roll on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The high energy dance rock band is Gary Greeno, singer/guitar and keys; Rod Bushey, lead guitar/vocals; Scott Belisle, bass/vocals; and Mike Stella, drums. This is their only appearance in Alburgh this year. "Always a great time under the pavilion," Mr. Greeno said.
ST. ALBANS--14th Star presents AmerikanaBlue on the Taproom Stage on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The acoustic trio from Montpelier plays the type of music you might have heard in a Greenwich Village coffeehouse in the late 60s.

BURLINGTON--The Starr Farm Harvest Fest features Carol Ann Jones on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
FAIRFIELD--The Bent Northrop Memorial Library hosts To Bid or Not to Bid, their 4th annual fundraiser, at the library on Saturday at 6 p.m. The evening will offer wine, food, music, and "tons of great stuff" for Live and Silent auction for a fun night with friends, family, and neighbors.
