SWANTON--The Entrepreneur's Breakfast Group meets for the first time at Cody's Cafe on Friday at 9 a.m. The focus of the February meeting is Effective Goal Setting. And breakfast. CREATIVE ECONOMY
Sponsored by the Swanton Arts Council, this group is for anyone -- in the arts or in other fields -- who owns a business or hopes to own one someday soon. The Arts alone can help boost the local economy but by joining forces with other interests, it can boost the local economy more. This group will meet on the third Friday of every month at that excellent hour for breakfast.

MONTGOMERY--The Montgomery Center for the Arts continues a Figure Drawing Workshop in the LAB at MCAKeltonHall today at 5 p.m. The workshop carries on every Thursday through December 26. Each week a very groovy group of artists gather to work and socialize. ART YOU CREATE
SWANTON--The Swanton Free Public Library hosts Painting with Acrylics on Saturday at 12 noon.
Artist Timothy Harrison will lead participants step-by-step through the process of creating an 8x10 acrylic sunny flower painting to take home. Suitable for all ages 12 and up.
Registration is required.
ST. ALBANS--Twiggs hosts an all ages event, Five Friends with Paint Nite, on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Get creative with your kids Guided by a local artist Carrie Tatro, this event is open to parents and kids. Each person large and small creates their own painting and the process is made easy for all ages. All painting supplies are included; food and drinks are available for purchase. $35 per person. SHELDON--The Abbey hosts Love Ballads Karaoke this evening at 8 p.m.

MONTREAL--Young Tradition Vermont's three late showcases at the Folk Alliance International Conference at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth began yestarday and continue this evening at 10:30 p.m. - 3 a.m. Tonight's showcase features Cricket Blue, the Alash Ensemble, Fru Skagerrak, the Lumber Jills, les Poules a Colin, Alexis Chartrand and Nicolas Babineau, the Zeichner Trio, Ethan Tischler, and Mike Wheeler. The Friday into Saturday schedule has the Lumber Jills, the Fretless, les Croisse D’Antan, Cricket Blue, Nora Rodes, Alexis Chartrand and Nicolas Babineau, the Zeichner Trio, and Ethan Tischler.

SHELDON--The Abbey's Friday Nights Music with the Winter Music Series continues this Friday at 7 p.m. The series continues through February 22. Singer-songwriter Sean Jarvis keeps the nights going with new original music.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents New England bluesman Arthur James on four dollar Friday and local legends Cooper and Lavoie (the Balladeer and the Bluesman who have played together for 33 years) on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--St. Paul's United Methodist Church hosts U2Charist, a complete communion service with the music of U2, on Saturday at 6 p.m. Music will be provided by the St. Paul's Praise Band and the Smokey Newfield Project.
As with all U2Charist services, a special offering will be taken to help fight extreme poverty. In the United Methodist Church, everyone is welcome to the table.
ESSEX JUNCTION--On Tap offers a double header on Saturday with Mackenzie & Missisquoi at 5 and Shake the Band at 9 p.m.
Wednesday
ST. ALBANS--Swanton's Kylie Begnoche sings live in the Pub at Nelly's on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
