2002-3 Winter Concerts
( for Grumpy Grownups)

Many moons ago, Dr. Carl Whitehouse suggested we need a regular event series for Franklin County folks caught in the Winter doldrums. "Everybody would come out in the snow if we had Concerts for Grumpy Grownups," he said. This All Arts Council series began last year with a symphony concert, a multimedia presentation, and more.
The Concerts for Grumpy Grownups series offers exceptional classical performances with reasonable ticket prices. Some are even free!
And, despite the series title, kids of all ages are welcome.

The BFA-St. Albans Fine Arts Department and the All Arts Council of Franklin County present Handel's Messiah on Thursday, December 19, 2002, at 7:30 p.m. in St Mary's Church in St. Albans. The Messiah will be performed by over 50 students, 20 adults, and 4 soloist, plus an 18 member orchestra.
Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Children under 6 are free.

The All Arts Council and the First Congregational Church present bassoonist Ben Hoadley in performance in the AAC winter Concerts for Grumpy Grownups series on Monday, January 13, 2003, at 7 p.m. in the First Congregational Church, 27 Church Street, St. Albans.
Admission is free (Donations are appreciated to continue programs like this one).
Mr. Hoadley will also hold workshops in area schools on Monday and Tuesday, January 13-14.

The Vermont Youth Orchestra Winter Concert returns with Orchestral Favorites, the second concert of the Vermont Youth Orchestra's 40th Anniversary Season, Friday, January 31, in the MVUHS Theater in Swanton, Vermont.
Orchestral Favorites includes Franck's Symphony in D Minor and Rossini's Overture to The Thieving Magpie. Eli Chalmer will solo in the Trombone Concertino by Lars-Erik Larsson. Theaura Ziegler will be featured in the first movement of Elgar's nostalgic Cello Concerto.
Admission is $5 for adults; $2 for students and seniors; children under 12 are free.

Tickets for all events in this series are available at Better Planet Books, Toys, and Hobbies in St Albans, Enosburg Pharmacy in Enosburg Falls, Swanton Rexall in Swanton, and at the door.
