AAC ART EXHIBIT
"ART IN YOUR HOME (EXPO)"
Expo 2001 featured Art. The Rotary Club of St Albans, Vermont, filled both handball courts of the Collins Perley Sports Complex with fine oil and watercolor paintings, photography, digital art, and sculpture. Seventh Generation Vermonter Corliss Blakely was the AAC's featured artist. Barre artist Fred Swan was the Rotary's featured artist.
One handball court hosted the largest exhibit of Barre artist Fred Swan's work in a decade. The other court boasted the best of Franklin County's artists.
The handball courts overflowed with the work of Eric Bataille, Diana Herder Bennett, Bob Brodeur, Connie Clay-Bickel, Dan Green, Mary Harper, April Henderson, David Juaire, Natalie LaRocque-Bouchard, Beth Maginn, Joy Mashtare, Patrick Murphy, Carolyn Peters, Meredith Roberts, and Wayne Tarr (Click here to see more information about the artists). Most of the works were available for sale.
Feature artist and AAC board member Corliss Blakely was born in St. Albans. Her Vermont heritage shows in her detailed portraits of the homes, farms and antiques of her ancestors in northern Vermont. Corliss introduced her new Roland giclee prints 'The Invitatation' and the 'Berry Branch' at the show and exhibited her popular line of miniature oils.
Corliss paints during the winter in her St Albans studio. In the summer she and her husband Barry live on Butler island in Lake Champlain where she gardens, paints outdoors, and enjoys nature.
The AAC began a raffle of the Blue Cupboard, one of Corliss Blakely's latest prints at the Home Expo. This limited edition still life captures an antique blue cupboard filled with with antiques, vegetables and canned goods. It is framed in an antique gold hardwood frame.
The raffle proceeds will help the AAC underwrite exhibits like this one. We will draw the winner at the Vermont Maple Festival.
There are about 1.2 million Rotarians, in more than 29,000 Rotary clubs in 163 countries. The Rotary Club of St Albans is a service organization of business and professional leaders from around Franklin County. They participate in and administer community service, educational, and sports programs and activities. The 2001 Home and Recreation Exposition is the Rotary's principle fund raiser.

Expo 2001 also featured crafts, cooking, and cozy computers for the home, construction and home improvement exhibits to remake your castle or build a new one, and almost every form of recreation, from things to watch to things to do.
The All Arts exhibit at the Rotary Home Expo opened at 2 p.m. Friday, March 9 and continued through Sunday, March 11.

St Albans is a small Vermont city on the shore of Lake Champlain, about 1/2 hour south of the Canadian border.
- Follow Interstate 89 to St Albans (exit 19).
- The exit ramp curves to a 4-way stop
- Turn Left onto Vermont 36
- The Collins Perley Sports Complex is on the right.
