ON STAGE LIVE

ESSEX JUNCTION---The Champlain Valley Fair emphasis on Vermont music talent continues with top local performers each appearing for three daily performances at 2:30, 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. in the Vermont State Building. Those free concerts began last week and finish up with Keeghan Nolan on Labor Day.
The Fine Art Gallery and Craft Show offers the best of the best in local art, paintings, photography and fine crafts in the Blue Ribbon Pavilion. The Arts Reception offers the chance to meet the art show winners on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
This week, the music lineup continues with the U.S. Marine Corps Band and with Roadhouse Charlie and Ruby today.
The U.S. Marine Corps Band plays a free concert this evening at 7 p.m. in the Grandstand. The concert concludes with fireworks. Free reserved seat tickets are available at all Maplefields stores.
Roadhouse Charlie and Ruby, a husband and wife team from Essex Junction, show that Ol’ time Country and Western music is far from dead today in the Vermont State Building. 15 year old Meagan "Mimi" Mahoney, formerly of Shelburne, brings her guitar to the fair on Friday. Eric Bronsveld will play classic rock from the 60s, 70s, and 80s on Saturday. Foreign Material may be middle aged, but they're "not acting like it." They play the music that they grew up with on Sunday. And our own Keeghan Nolan and The Adams, the 16-year old singer/songwriter from Fairfield, will close the show on Labor Day.

RANDOLPH--The all-day, all-weather 16th New World Festival features Fiddleheads and Yankee Chank as well as Annalivia, Cantrip, John Doyle, Nils Fredland, Gadelle, Jerry Holland, Claude Methe, Nightingale, No Strings Marionette Company, Prydein, Rapetipetam, Raz-de-Maree, Triptych, and more in and around the Chandler Music Hall on Sunday.
The festival of Celtic and French Canadian music and dance is performed on five stages.
Yankee Chank is a Vermont-based Cajun dance band performs traditional dance music from southwest Louisiana. The group features traditional instruments and specializes in the two-steps and waltzes played in the dance halls and honky-tonks of Louisiana. With Bob Naess, fiddle and vocals; Cannon Labrie, accordion and vocals; Jim Burns, guitar; and Mark Sustic, bass and percussion, they have played dances, festivals, concerts, parties, and weddings throughout New England since 1996.
Mark Sustic created Fiddleheads so young people could learn to play--or to improve their traditional fiddles--in the company of other like-minded players. The group travels, practices together, prepares for performances, and performs at community events and dances around New England.
Admission is $30 for adults, $10 for students (13 - 18), and $5 for children ( 2 - 12) with adult and family discounts for tickets ordered by Saturday. There are group rates, so it is possible to get a vanload together from Franklin County. All tickets are available at the door. Please leave pets at home.

Lisa Brande plays Americana, R&B, and folk rock in several "bands." She has played dinner gigs, nursing homes, piazzas in Italy, temples in India, gazebos in the Keys, and Summer Sounds. Her myspace site has info about Ms. Brande, musical influences, a 99-cent track store and a four track sampler, and contact info. The background makes the text a little hard to read.
