Bay Day 2009 kicks off a day with lots more than fireworks in St. Albans Town Bay Park all day this Sunday. The 29th annual summer festival offers a full family day with the Great Race, lakefront games, sports, fair food, fireworks, and continuous live music, all to celebrate Independence Day. This familiar Franklin County family festival has new surprises every year. SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY HERE!
SUMMER SOUNDS--The All Arts Council and the Town of St. Albans welcome a band that can rock the Pavilion as Mr. French performs an Independence Day tribute in the Summer Sounds series at Bay Day on Sunday evening. The popular rock band from Burlington will play right into the fireworks.
Mr. French is an accomplished, 4 piece Burlington-based rock band known throughout New York and New England. Playing classic rock and dance standards from Led Zeppelin, Cream, the Doors, Van Morrison, Beatles and many more of your favorites, Mr. French features Gary "Buddha" Norful, keys and vocals; Tim O'Brien, drums; Jimmy "Oxo" Carter, bass and vocals; and Jeff Wheel on guitar and vocals. With rock, funk, pop and ballads Mr. French will have you dancing and singing until the fireworks. 7 p.m. facing the lake on the Bathhouse patio.

The community based All Arts Council brings the performing arts to northwestern Vermont. The concerts are always on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m., always in a town park, and always free. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair as you settle in to enjoy outdoor family music and festivities.
LIVE MUSIC ALL AFTERNOON--The All Arts Council and the Town of St. Albans will offer live music for Bay Day starting about 1:30 p.m. on the back stage at St. Albans Town Park at the Bay. The afternoon music lineup includes Keeghan Nolan plus Gary Dulabaum and Josh Brooks, Neon Spoon, and some very special guests. These popular entertainers will mix it up with great country music, easy rock, and some family and kid friendly favorites.
Franklin County's Number One country music star, Keeghan Nolan brings the fire of Patsy Cline to her own original material, along with her Trio to the stage. She won First Place for solo Vocalist at the CMA Music City Rising Star competition in Nashville. 1:30 and 2:15 p.m. on the Bathhouse stage.
Gary Dulabaum is a nationally known performer, recording artist, author, and teacher from South Burlington. Josh Brooks plays a popular mix of story-based originals and folk songs. Their concert together will include traditional and original American folk songs, sing-alongs, and fun. 4 and 5:30 p.m. on the Bathhouse stage.
"We'll play a lot of favorites," said Neon Spoon's Jeff Blouin. Look for music from Golden Earring, Kiss, Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama and more from Mr. Blouin, bass; Adam Blouin, lead guitar; Troy Baker, rhythm and lead guitar; and Dave Atchison, drums. 3 and 4:30 p.m. on the Bathhouse stage.

The family events include the great race, volleyball and horseshoe tournaments, food and games for all ages, and more all starting at 1:30 p.m.
The Bay Day-Summer Sounds social, presented by St. Albans Town Recreation, will be an all day event with the Bay Day food vendors starting to serve at about 2 p.m.
Fireworks will begin at dusk thanks to generous contributions from the community. The fireworks alone have a rain date, July 8.
ENOSBURG FALLS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on Pam Krout-Voss, fiber art; Patrick Murphy, paintings; Jo Anne Wazny, photography; and Andy Wooten, fiber arts and clothing. ART ON THE WALLS
The A.I.R. gallery hosts a free meet-the-artists reception with refreshments tonight from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The exhibit continues through the end of July.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 45 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The Village Frame Shoppe is located within the coop as a resident framer. The Blue Crayon, a small private studio, is available there for individual or small group lessons. The gallery, located at 349 Main Street, is open Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Click here for more info.
ST ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts photographer Lauren Paoletti of NMC Environmental Services this month. Ms. Paoletti is exhibiting scenes of the beaches, skies, and blue-green waters of Aruba and Bermuda.
The show continues through the end of July.
BURLINGTON--8084-Reunited. Randy, Andre, Roy, and Gary come together for one show at the Waterfront for the Independence Day Fireworks Celebration on Friday evening. ON STAGE LIVE
Roy Brown, stock cars and bass, continues to playaround. Andre Maquera of Fairfax, guitar, is busy producing, writing, and playing. Randy Smith, lead vocals and guitar, relocated to Charlotte, NC, and is recording a solo CD for NYC's GB Music. Gary Spaulding, drums, has been working with Keeghan Nolan, RumbleDoll, and doing studio sessions.
JEFFERSONVILLE--Vermont’s own 40th Army Band will perform on the Village Green at Smugglers’ Notch on Saturday at 8 p.m. The concert is part of the community Fourth of July celebration. An American Celebration, the program includes patriotic American favorites, Sousa marches and American jazz and folk music. The finale will feature the firing of two 105 millimeter, towed howitzers during Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and a fireworks display.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The Quadricentennial celebrates the 400th anniversary of Samuel de Champlain’s first sighting of the lake which bears his name. Burlington City Arts offers a festival of fine art with artists from across Vermont, New York, and Quebec. QUADRICENTENNIAL
BURLINGTON--The Vermont Youth Orchestra kicks off its second international tour with a special Independence Eve concert on Friday evening at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts. The concert begins at 7 p.m. to allow audiences to attend the post-concert fireworks on the Burlington Waterfront.
The program will feature two new pieces commissioned especially for the Quadricentennial celebration. Discovery, adventure and old world dance chansons characterize Champlain’s Voyage, written by music director Troy Peters. Prelude and Tango was written by former VYO member Drake Mabry (oboe, 1963-67). The program also includes works by Corigliano, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saens, Faure, and Gershwin.
Following the bon voyage concert, the orchestra departs for Quebec City, then on to France where they will perform in Paris, La Rochelle and Poitiers.

BURLINGTON--The Burlington International Waterfront Festival begins today and continues through July 14 with concerts, comedy, film, theater, and other special events featuring a number of Franklin county artists and musicians.
Keeghan Nolan is busy this week, returning for Rising Teen Stars on the Champlain Valley Stage on Tuesday. Free.
Michele Choiniere's detailed, emotional, original music shows the richness of Franco-American culture on the Champlain Valley Stage on Wednesday. Free.
Vermont's premiere choral ensemble, Counterpoint, performs a repertoire of French Canadian songs, lake ballads, and other Champlain-themed music at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Wednesday. Counterpoint is a ticketed event; admission is $18.
Joan G. Stark has been called the "Queen of ASCII art." She discovered the form when she saw a tiny bicycle drawn with typewriter characters in 1995.
