The Big Music Weeks of Summer continue with three or more live concerts, fairs, theatricals, or festivals each week. There is plenty to see and hear right in Franklin County.
The All Arts Council presents Greg Izor and the Box Kickers in the blues, southern soul, swamp pop, and R&B Summer Sounds concert in Highgate Municipal Park on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. KICKIN' IT AROUND
"We'll have a lot of Louisiana/Texas blues," drummer Jason Corbiere said. The Box Kickers include Greg Izor, vocals and harmonica, Paul Asbell, guitar, Tom Buckley, bass, and Mr. Corbiere, percussion.
Originally a Vermonter, Mr. Izor moved to New Orleans to study with the masters of blues in 2000. Jumpin' Johnny Sansone brought out the intensity, creativity, and fiery showmanship, Mr. Izor developed on Bourbon Street and brings to concerts now. He was featured at the Funky Pirate Club and remains a member of the New Orleans all-star blues band, the King Brisket Boys. He has lived and played in Austin for the past 5 years and just returned from a Spanish tour that culminated in a performance and harmonica clinic at the Blues Cazorla Festival.
Just before the concert, stop by for the Highgate VFD Auxiliary-Summer Sounds Social in the Park starting at 6 p.m. The social hour is a chance to visit with friends and enjoy hot dogs, chips, cool drinks, and desserts on a summer night.
The Summer Sounds concerts are sponsored by the Town of Highgate and the All Arts Council, and underwritten by Chevalier Drilling, Drummac Septic Service, O. C. McCuin and Sons, and Ray's Extrusion Dies and Tubing.
The community based All Arts Council brings the performing arts to northwestern Vermont. The concerts are always on Sunday evenings, always at 7 p.m., always in Highgate Municipal Park, and always free. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair as you settle in to enjoy outdoor family music and festivities. The rain site is the Highgate United Methodist Church.

ENOSBURG FALLS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on painters Fred Ackel, Beth McAdams, and Robert Eldridge, and potter Susan Delear. ART ON THE WALLS
The A.I.R. gallery hosts a free meet-the-artists reception with refreshments tonight from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The exhibit continues through the end of August.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 45 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The Village Frame Shoppe is located within the coop as a resident framer. The Blue Crayon, a small private studio, is available there for individual or small group lessons. The gallery, located at 349 Main Street, is open Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
ESSEX JUNCTION--On Tap (formerly the Lincoln Inn) offers Blues Night with the Nobby Reed Project tonight at 7 p.m. The Phil Abair Band takes the stage tomorrow at 9 p.m. ON STAGE LIVE

ESSEX JUNCTION--The Brown Cow Summer Concert Series at the Covenant Community Church (home of the homemade root beer float) presents Carol Ann Jones and Gary Spaulding in concert tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m.
Bring a picnic blanket.
MALLETTS BAY--Venue presents the Keeghan Nolan Band tomorrow evening at 9 p.m. Venue is the "newest night spot offering entertainment for everyone" in Malletts Bay. Call 802.310.3261 for more info.
SWANTON--God's Vision Ministry of Sheldon presents Summerfest 2011 at their retreat on the Sweet Hollow Road on Saturday from 12 noon to 5 p.m. The event has live music plus a bouncy house, face painting, sack races, horse rides, wagon rides, a Farmers Market, and more.
Admission and parking are free.

SWANTON--The Swanton Summer Concert Series presents the Amida Bourbon Project with special guest Lisa Fischer on the Swanton Town Green on Saturday at 5 p.m. The Project centers on singer/songwriter Aya Inoue, rhythm guitar and vocals; Matt Harpster; lead guitar with an ever changing cast of other musicians including Jason Corbiere, drums, and Aaron Flinn, bass. Their softer, acoustic music blends Americana, folk, and moody melodies to create an everyday, rootsy sound.
Lisa Fischer is here from Germany on a musician exchange; they met in May when the Project toured Germany.
The series is sponsored by the Swanton Chamber of Commerce.
MONTGOMERY VILLAGE--Montgomery Historical Society presents the Diller-Quaile String Quartet in the Concerts by the Common series in Pratt Hall on Sunday at 5 p.m.
The quartet-in-residence of the Diller-Quaile School of Music, Uli Speth, violin, Philip Hough, violin, Jack Rosenberg, viola, and Tomas Ulrich, cello, perform at Diller-Quaile each season, participate in chamber music festivals in the United States and South America, and bring string quartet to young people in underserved communities through the Classical Access Outreach Program.
Their repertoire includes masterworks of the "standard" string library, new works by contemporary composers, including commissions for Brazilian composer Raimundo Penaforte's Quarteto 3 and Eric Ewazen's Quartet No. 2 WindSwept, They are currently recording Benjamin Britten's unpublished student works for the Thematic Catalogue project at the Britten-Pears Library.

FAIRFAX--The Fairfax Summer Concert Series presents Tammy Fletcher at BFA Fairfax on the Green on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is free. Bring your blanket, lawn chairs, and family. There will be a charitable bake sale. In the case of rain the concert will be held in the middle school gym. The Fairfax Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Vermont Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, Fairfax Park and Rec, the Fairfax Community Library and BFA K-12 Enrichment.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS--SASPA presents My Fair Lady for a three day run next week, August 12-14, in the BFA Performing Arts Center.
Tickets for the opening night reception and show are $25. Admission is $15 Saturday and Sunday and $12 for the Sunday matinee. Discounts for seniors and students.
