VATTA AUDITIONS & INTERVIEWS (February 27)--The Vermont Association of Theater and Theater Artists 25th annual statewide call is for professional Tech/Design/Management/Directing/Choreography personnel. Entry fee. CALL FOR THESPIANS
The annual event brings out talented and skilled theater personnel of all ages to meet with, and/or audition for, a Producers' Circle of 15-20 professional and semiprofessional (Equity and non-Equity) theater groups, presenting organizations, casting agents, indie producers, and directors of stage/film/video with paid positions available throughout Vermont. Some of the companies also offer intern or apprentice programs which require auditions.
The VATTAs also offer networking and access to the Producers' Circle for designers, playwrights, directors, choreographers, managers, and technical people.
Registration fees and materials must be submitted in advance.
The VATTAs will be held at the Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph on March 3 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. An informal Theater Town Meeting will follow the auditions if time allows

MORRISVILLE--Young Tradition Vermont and River Arts present Dirk Powell and Riley Baugus at River Arts this evening at 7 p.m. Their performance offers an authentic glimpse into Americana roots music.
Rounder Records artist Dirk Powell has more than nine generations of musical roots in the Appalachians. He has recorded and performed with Loretta Lynn (on the Grammy-winning Van Lear Rose), Sting, Jack White, Levon Helm, Jewel, T-Bone Burnett, Ralph Stanley, and Linda Ronstadt. He is in demand as a fiddle and accordion session player and appears in concert with Joan Baez, in Riverdance, and more. A native of North Carolina, Riley Baugus is an old-time fiddle and banjo master, a soulful singer, and an expert in mountain ballad traditions. Their work was featured in the film Cold Mountain.
Admission is $15 at the door. Advance reservations are available by email from Mark Sustic or River Arts. Partial proceeds benefit the Tom Sustic Fund.

YOUNG EMERGING ARTIST COMPETITION (February 25)--The Phoenix Gallery will select two artists for a Solo Exhibition and a one-year membership for the 2012 season. From its 1958 origins as a prestigious artist co-op in New York City, the Phoenix Gallery has evolved into a community-oriented center for all the arts. Artists working in all media are eligible. EXPOSED 2012 (March 19)--Helen Day Art Center in Stowe invites proposals for the 21st annual outdoor sculpture exhibition.
Sculpture in any medium that can endure the outdoors in a public setting for three months is welcome. Helen Day also seeks site-specific installations or interventions, and participatory or exchange based works, and more.
Writers wanted but no more than 25 words will be displayed in vinyl on storefront windows in Stowe.
The Center will also accept proposals for single-night events from video artists, film makers, performers, writers, and those interested in lecturing about public art history or their own work. Dedicated to providing support and opportunity for artists, there will be no application fee. Email for more info.
CHAFFEE JURIED ARTISTS (March 20)--The Chaffee Art Center in Rutland seeks artists who want to become Chaffee Juried Members and/or 2013 Featured Artists. The Chaffee accepts submissions from artists in VT and within 50 miles of its border. Call 802.775.0356, email, or click here for more info.
INTERNATIONAL JURIED PHOTOGRAPHY (March 24)--The North Valley Art League invites all forms of photographic expression. A physical gallery and online exhibit with cash prizes including $1,000 Best of Show. The May show will be exhibited at the Carter House Gallery in Redding, California. Entry fee. RICHFORD--Vermont State Librarian Martha Reid will visit the Arvin A. Brown Library tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Under the E-Vermont Community Broadband Project Ms. Reid will deliver three new computers with software. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
The reception will introduce the State Librarian and the new equipment. Refrshments will be served.
The Franklin County rock band Justice introduces Gary Greeno on lead vocals joining Scott Belisle on bass and backup vocals; Todd Dunn, lead and rhythm guitar; Mike Fredette, drums; and Scott Guptill, rhythm guitar and backup vocals. The rock site includes info about the band, the show schedule, photos, video clips, their swag shop, a search bot, contact info, and more.
