ST. ALBANS--14th Star Brewing Co. hosts Pimp My Pint on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. DIY ART
It's a night of art and drinks with local artist and teacher Ashley Michele Bowen to show how to decorate a 14th Star pint glass to make it one of a kind. Paint, brushes, and pint glasses will be provided.
Register online for $15 at or pay $20 at the door the day of the event.
ST. ALBANS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on photographer Steve Boal, painter (and musician) Patrick Murphy, mosaicist Shanna Ratner, and fiber artist Pam Krout-Voss. ART ON THE WALLS
The A.I.R. gallery hosts a free meet-the-artists reception with refreshments and a raffle today 4:30 - 7 p.m. The exhibit continues through the end of November.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 40 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The gallery, newly reopened at 10 South Main Street, is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Click here for more info.
MORRISVILLE--River Arts presents Viva Las Artes! 2017 at the gallery on Friday at 6 p.m.
The special dinner and auction benefits River Arts. This year will feature all things "green" -- recycled treasures, local products, services, and an array of eco-friendly items. The evening begins with a wine bar, antipasto hors d'oeuvres, and silent auction, followed by a meal by Junior's of Stowe and the live auction.

ST ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts the landscapes of photographer David J. Griggs this month. Mr. Griggs grew up in Middlebury, journeyed to the Southwest, returned to Highgate Center, and now lives in southern Vermont. And he keeps coming back to Franklin County. His contemplative images make up a solo show at the NMC Gallery this month.
The show continues through the end of November.
SWANTON--The Swanton's Got Art art show and sale takes over the Swanton Municipal Complex with an opening reception tomorrow evening from 5 - 9 p.m. and the art exhibit on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

SWANTON--The Swanton Arts Council board will meet at the Swanton Chamber of Commerce on Monday at 5:30 p.m. This meeting will be held at the chamber to "get a feel for future art shows to be held in this space." IN THE SAC

ST. ALBANS--The St. Albans Museum presents Vermont vs. Hollywood: 100 Years of Vermont in Film in the Bliss Room this evening at 7 p.m. FILM
Vermont has been a featured location in Hollywood movies for nearly a century. It has been represented many different ways during that time and its portrayal reflects Vermont's own history as well as American history. Examining those films provides interesting and fun insights into the hold Vermont has had on imagination in the media age. Amanda Kay Gustin of the Vermont Historical Society will provide background and share clips ranging chronologically from 1919’s "Way Down East" to 2005’s "Thank You for Smoking."
The Vermont Humanities Council event is free and open to the public.

ST. ALBANS--14th Star Brewing Co. presents an Unplugged Evening with Jamie Lee Thurston in the Room on Friday at 7 p.m. Doors at 6 p.m.
The special one night only acoustic performance by the country music star will benefit Veterans Count Vermont, an organization that raises money for programs, run by the Easter Seals, that benefit our current and past members of the armed forces, with all of the money raised in Vermont remaining in Vermont.

ST. ALBANS--Durty Nelly's Irish Pub presents the Johnny Cash Tribute Show in the pub on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
George Richard and Vermont's only Johnny Cash Tribute Show brings the music of Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, and the Tennessee Three to the stage. They are dedicated to reliving the Cash sound and keeping that sound alive.
General admission (standing) is $11.54. A limited number of tickets will be sold.
EAST FAIRFIELD--Evenings with Vermont Treasures concludes the 2017 season with the Oleo Romeos in a benefit performance in the Meeting House on the Green on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Mostly unplugged in this performance, and undoubtedly unhinged, veteran Oleos Tyrone Shaw, Jerry Bowers, and Will Patton, joined by George Lewis and others, will offer an evening of originals and some classic covers. Expect anecdotes and moments of dubious taste as well.
Light fare and beer and wine will be available throughout the evening.
Admission is by suggested donation of $10 at the door. Proceeds from this performance will go to the Fairfield Food Shelf. click here for more info.

RANDOLPH--Chandler Music Hall presents the Gibson Brothers and the Vermont Bluegrass Pioneers on Sunday at 2 p.m. A little bit of a drive but a fun show with the premiere brother duet plus the legendary Summer Sounds and Franklin County faves, Banjo Dan and Willy Lindner together with Danny Coane.

SOUTH BURLINGTON--Higher Ground hosts the 19th annual Advance Music Singer/Songwriter Contest on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Doors at 6 p.m.
Drawing seasoned musicians, as well as those who have never performed in public, the contest proves to be an eclectic and diverse event, showcasing many musical and lyrical styles, textures, and tastes. The top three contestants from each of three nights of semi finals at Nectars, Arts Riot, and The Monkey House will compete at Higher Ground.
MONTPELIER--The Vermont House of Representatives Rural Development Caucus will hold a Public Hearing at the Vermont State House on Tuesday from 5 - 7 p.m. to hear from municipal, business, education, and non-profit interests in rural Vermont about the most pressing rural issues. CREATIVE ECONOMY
Areas like Franklin County face different pressures and challenges. The Caucus wants viable ideas to strengthen the economies and raise the standard of living here. The hearing is organized with support from the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development and the Vermont Council on Rural Development.
Vermonters are invited to testify in person or through submitted testimony. Those who want to submit testimony can email Rep. Charlie Kimbell.
MONTPELIER--The two-day Vermont Creative Network Summit 2017 opens today in the State House.
The Summit is a chance connect with peers, learn about current energies and trends, and advance key policy issues for Vermont's creative sector. There will be discussions with Vermont thought leaders about economic development and opportunity. Click here for more info.
