     Franklin County's arts and music gatherings bring new opportunities, gossip, "show-and-tell" and occasional workshops. There are also booked and acoustic Open Mic Nights that feature music, readings, and more from the best new artists in Vermont.

HARVEST FESTIVAL

ENOSBURG--The annual Enosburg Falls Harvest Fest celebrates the harvest with artists, art and crafts, live entertainment, antiques, wagon rides, fresh produce, quilt show, and the fruits of the season in a wine and beer and spirit tasting garden, all in Lincoln Park on Saturday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

ART ON THE WALLS

ENOSBURG FALLS--The 1906 House hosts the Carriage Barn Art Show and Sale on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The show coincides with the Enosburg Harvest Fest.
      The show will include over a dozen artists from near and far, plus raffles and refreshments. Admission is free. Call 802.933.3030 of email for more info.


ST. ALBANS--The Artist In Residence Gallery has established a Young Artist Recognition program. Young Vermont artists ages 12 through 17 will display their art in the gallery. Each month, one young artist will be welcomed at our monthly reception and will receive a certificate in honor of their participation in our Young Artist Recognition program. The September artist is painter Lily Yandow.

ART YOU CREATE

MONTGOMERY--The Montgomery Center for the Arts continues a Figure Drawing Workshop in the LAB at MCAKeltonHall today at 5 p.m. The workshop carries on every Thursday through December 26. Each week a very groovy group of artists gather to work and socialize.


ST. ALBANS--Twiggs hosts Paint Nite: Design a Sign--Expression on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
      This Paint Nite with artist Diane Kingston makes wood wall art that showcases a personal style. Choose from hundreds of unique stencils to build and paint a one-of-a-kind sign. The cost is $55. Click here for tickets. Use the code YAYfbVT10off for $10 off.


FISH FILM

ST. ALBANS--Swanton Arts Council hosts a showing of The Year of the Salmon with a brief stars reception and a talk by Bill Arden on water conservation at the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge on Friday at 6 p.m.
      The film script was written in a writing slam that weaves fictional characters with facts provided by the Refuge to tell the story of this natural heritage. The Lake Champlain Basin Program provided a 2019 Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership Local Heritage Grant for the community generated original film.
      The evening is free and open to the public.


FARM STORIES LIVE

ST. ALBANS--The Saint Albans Museum and Northwest Access Television host Stories from the Farm, an Open Mic Storytelling Event dedicated to farming and agriculture, at Northwest Access TV this evening from 6:30 - 9 p.m.
      Come share a favorite memory from your time farming. Mowing hay, in the sugar bush, a late night calfing, the worst day of all, or the best day ever. All are welcome. Each person is asked to limit the length of their story to 7 minutes so we can hear from as many.


SWING DANCE

ST. ALBANS--The Saint Albans Museum hosts the USO Canteen, a Swing Dance Fundraiser featuring the Weed Imperial Orchestra led by Eric Bushey, in the Bliss Room on Saturday from 6 - 8 p.m.
      Step back in time to the big-band era as the "Canteen" has live music, dance lessons, and more.
      Admission is $15. Tickets include "ration coupons" for period refreshments (sandwiches, coffee, and doughnuts). Period dress and costumes are encouraged! All ages and dancing abilities are welcome. Proceeds will benefit the Museum's educational and public programming.

ON STAGE LIVE

Thursday
ST. ALBANS--Highgate Library & Community Center presents paranormal rock star Dustin Pari Documenting the Dead at 14th Star Brewery this evening at 6 p.m.
      Mr. Pari is a researcher, motivator, lecturer, and writer from Providence, RI. He has appeared on Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Destination Truth, and more.

SOUTH HERO--The Blue Paddle Bistro presents Carol Ann Jones in a solo singer-songwriter performance in the main dining room on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Ms. Jones will appear the third Thursday of each month.

Friday
SHELDON--Fall Friday Night Music Series continues at the Abbey with Home Brew live in the Pub on Friday at 6:30 p.m.


ST. ALBANS--14th Star Brewing Company presents the Stragglers on the taproom stage on Friday at 6 p.m.
      BFA's own Eric Bushey, tenor banjo and vocals; Chris Kellogg, guitar, harmonica, and vocals; and Preston Randall, mandolin, harmonica, vocals, and bones will play hot roots, bluegrass, vintage country, Americana, and classic rock with their own spin.


MORRISVILLE--River Arts hosts a Christine Malcolm Band CD Release Party for her new album, I Like You, as a fundraiser for the Morrisville Recovery Center; the evening is at River Arts at 74 Pleasant Street on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
      This is the second recording for the singer-songwriter from Elmore. Her first album, Crickets, Coyotes and the Big Yellow Moon received 2015 Tammy award for Best Country Record. Ms. Malcolm writes songs from a place of honesty and intimacy with a high note of humor. There will be Black Diamond BBQ catering and potluck dinner.
      Admission is by $10/family suggested donation. All ages are welcome. All proceeds from the event will go to the Morrisville Recovery Center.

ST. ALBANS--The Old Foundry at One Federal presents the blues, Dead and country rock of Mark & Bart on Friday and music that moves the soul from Carol Ann Jones with Will Patton on Saturday. Shows begin at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday
ST. ALBANS--AJ Holzscheiter's family, 14th Star, and Heritage Toyota present a music festival to increase suicide awareness and prevention. Afterglow is a free, family friendly concert featuring live music all day at Hard'ack on Saturday from noon - 9 p.m.
      Acoustic Rodney lights up the stage at noon followed by Squirrel at 1:15 p.m. Barbie N Bones play at 2:45 and Glass Onion 4:15. Jamie Lee Thurston headlines the show from 6:30 p.m. until close. There will be beverages from 14th Star, Lawson's Brewing, and Vermont Wineries plus regional food trucks, guided trail tours, a jumpy castle, jugglers, and other activities and entertainment for kids, and more.

ST. ALBANS--Mill River Brewing and BBQ presents Justin LaPoint live on Saturday at 7 p.m.
      The singer/songwriter with a unique voice and style won the Advance Music Singer/Songwriter Competition. His first album is Bear Country.


ESSEX JUNCTION--On Tap offers Summer Sounds favorites IncaHOOTs tonight at 9 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--Nelly's Pub & Grill presents D.French Live for Hip Hop Night on Saturday at 10 p.m.
      The Burlington Civil Engineer by day is an "artist by every second in between." His debut LP, Highest Lows, dropped on July 19. No Cover all night!


Sunday
MONTPELIER--Vermont Blues Society hosts the Vermont to Memphis International Blues Challenge at Sweet Melissa's on Sunday from 3 - 7 p.m. Our own Nobby Reed Project will be there.
      Musicians will compete for first place in either the band or solo/duo categories. The top of each category will go to Memphis in January to Challenge over 200 international acts. The International Blues Challenge is a worldwide search for those blues acts ready for the international stage. Find them on Facebook for more info.
